The viewership results of StarLadder ImbaTV Dota 2 Minor Season 3

The viewership results of StarLadder ImbaTV Dota 2 Minor Season 3

The third minor of Dota Pro Circuit 2019-20 - StarLadder ImbaTV Dota 2 Minor Season 3 is over. The results of this event are good, but not astonishing compared to previous seasons, as well as to other championships in the discipline.

The event took place at CyberSport Arena in Kyiv. The winner of the tournament is Team Aster from China under the mentorship of famous pro-player BurNIng.

However, the most popular team by views on the tournament is Russian team Gambit Esports. During their match with Alliance  the peak was 153,937 viewers.  50% of this number are Russian-speaking viewers and English-speaking spectators are behind them.

The 3rd spot is occupied by Indonesian spectators - 11K viewers. Compared to last year, the number of Russian-speaking viewers has increased by 31%, while the number of English-speaking viewers has decreased by a couple of percent.

Alliance fans also didn't hesitate. 3 games of this team got into the rank of the most popular matches in the tournament just like the previous year.

Unfortunately, the spectators weren't fully interested in games of other teams besides mentioned triple. While the matches of popular teams had an average number of spectators up to 100K, the other matched barely reached the mark of 69K spectators.

There's a feeling that minors have reached their limit. Compared to last year, the viewership statistics haven't improved as much as we would like it to. The number of views increased only by 8%, while the peak of viewers increased by 19%.

We can't but compare the results of StarLadder ImbaTV Dota 2 Minor Season 3 with WePlay! Dota 2 Tug of War: Mad Moon, which was held in February. Due to the more powerful roaster, the peak on WePlay! broadcast was 2.5 times greater, along with the total number of views.

Dota 2 used to overtake CS:GO by viewership, but now the situation has changed. ICE Challenge 2020 will serve us as an example, the Russian-speaking audience peaked at 136K viewers on this event, and we don't even involve such grand events as IEM Katowice, where this number of viewers will be twice as big.

Overall, the tournament went calmly and smoothly. Of course, the tournament itself wasn't so tremendous compared to the other events of the discipline, nevertheless fans experienced positive emotions from watching the broadcast.
