Six Invitational 2020: Overview of the Group Stage

The playoffs of 4th year of Six Invitational are at full blast, and the group stage experienced a rapid growth in comparison with the previous events, so, for this reason we made an overview of the Group Stage of this tournament.

The prize pool of the tournament is $3,000,000, which is the largest amount of money in the history of this tournament. Also, from this prize pool $20,000 are going to charity.

We propose to begin with the leaders of the tournament. The main focus of the Group Stage is the rivalry between Team Empire and G2 Esports. There was a chance for Empire’s revenge, because they lost to G2 Esports on the Six Invitational 2019 with the score 0-3. Don’t forget that Team Empire was one of the finalists on the Six Invitational 2019, moreover they won the Six Major Raleigh 2019 and Pro League Season 9 Finals. But, on this event they experienced 2 losses, that’s why they left the tournament.

G2 Esports instead went through the group stage with ease, without losses. The main bets were placed on teams like SoloMid and Rogue, but Rogue also flopped with no wins in total.

Such teams as Spacestation Gaming and Ninjas in Pyjamas surprised us with their skill and they also finished the group stage with no losses.

You can admit from Average Viewers category that viewers’ absolute favorites are G2 Esports. It should be pointed out that so-called “Samurai” gathered 12% of viewers more than Spacestation Gaming and Team Empire which are on the second and third places accordingly.

The most popular match of the Group Stage is between G2 Esports and BDS Esport with the 156 716 viewers peak.

By the way, average amount of English peak viewers comparing to the previous tournament is increased by 65%. On the contrary the amount of Russian viewers is decreased by 50%, because the Rainbow Six Siege community is not so large in that CIS region and Russian teams don’t encourage their fans to watch the tournament.

In overall, the group stage was great and surprised us with the results, we hope that the Playoffs’ final will be so saturated also.
