Twitch analysis for August

Posted Sep 04, 2019

Summer is over, which means that it is time to engage not only into education al activities, but also into summing up the results of August. In today's article, we will talk about the most popular Twitch categories for the eighth month of 2019.

It’s worth starting with the game for which August was a time of triumph. And this would definitely be the World of Warcraft. The popular MMORPG from Blizzard has received a ton of new viewers thanks to the long-awaited release of the classic version of the game. It brought the players back to the very dawn of Warcraft, allowing to repeat an experience that once belonged only to the old-timers of the video game world.

At the end of summer, the game's category was able to reach 1 million 132 thousand peak viewers. The number of hours watched has grown from 36 million to 67 million. All of this has allowed the MMORPG to rise to 4th spot in the popularity ranking.

The game from Valve has distinguished itself with another peak mark worth one million viewers. In August, the Dota 2 professional scene had a real celebration. The International the game was held, one with a prize fund exceeding $34 million. As a result, the “MOBA” category on Twitch has received 1 million 38 thousand peak viewers.

The video game industry's newest product, Remnant: From the Ashes, has shown itself extremely well. Being released on August 20, it came to the liking of gamers – as shown by the many review websites. As a result of the warm welcome, the co-op “souls-like” has reached the 19th spot with an overall result of 6.5 million hours.

The auto-battler from Riot Games was marked with a strong decrease. TeamFight Tactics has lost eight spots at once. Compared to July, it lost almost 60 million hours. This happened as a result of the decline of the hype around the game – and, along with it, the decrease of interest from many popular streamers.

Apex Legends continues its downfall. In August, the “killer of Battle Royales” has lost three spots at once. Today it is ranked lower than its main competitors – Fortnite and PUBG. Do not forget that recently one of the main streamers of the Epic Games' shooter has left Twitch. Although Ninja has chosen Mixer, so far this has not affected the position of the “Epic's” game.

We will not stop here and soon other results of August will be published at our website. In order not to miss them, subscribe to our social networks: Twitter, Facebook and VK. If you still have important questions, you can always contact us via email.
