NAVI and FaZe set new record: Viewership stats of BLAST Premier: Spring Groups 2021

New season of the BLAST Premier series started right after the Global Finals. 12 teams from Europe, North America and Brazil competed at BLAST Premier: Spring Groups 2021 from February 4 to 14. It was the last tournament for olofmeister with FaZe Clan, whose match with Natus Vincere set a new record in the series.

Who made it to European Finals 2021?

The BLAST Premier format has not changed since last year. Previous spring organizers held separate finals for the American and European divisions; now this is not required as the strongest and most ambitious American teams have already moved to Europe.

The tournament brought together eight of ten best teams in the world according HLTV.org rating (only Virtus.pro and Heroic were missing). Four nominally reside in North America, but had to move to Europe during the coronavirus pandemic; others represented Europe.

The teams fought for spots in the spring finals and a prize pool of $150,000. BIGComplexity Gaming and Natus Vincere won their groups. Together with Ninjas in Pyjamas, Evil Geniuses and FaZe Clan they advanced to the Spring Finals. The rest will compete for the remaining slots in the Showdown tournament.

Viewership stats: everyone followed FaZe

Right after the tournament FaZe Clan announced olofmeister's departure, but the fans of the game knew about it in advance. There were rumors back in November that karrigan would return to the team for the vacant captain’s slot. In December insiders predicted that the Swedish veteran would end his career as well. However, olof is not done yet.

Olofmeister started taking breaks from the game three years ago. His last return to FaZe Clan was mostly forced as there were no other players to replace NiKo who had left for G2 Esports. Coldzera also added fuel to the fire, announcing that olofmeister would retire. And at the last tournament olofmeister did not disappoint and was especially useful in two series against Team Liquid.

Natus Vincere became the most popular team of the tournament with 356,7K Average Viewers throughout the event. FaZe Clan is second with 331,5K. Top 5 also includes MIBR, Team Liquid and G2 Esports

Sorted by Hours Watched, FaZe and NAVI swap places (as FaZe got to Group C final through lower bracket). Top 5 in that case would also include Team Liquid, EG and MIBR.

Four FaZe Clan games are in the top 5 by Peak Viewers. Top matches of international squads attracted 307K or more viewers. It is noteworthy that teams or players from Brazil participated in all the matches from the top 5: coldzera plays in FaZe, FalleN plays in Liquid, and MIBR has a brazilian team. The tournament was also hosted by the most popular Portuguese-speaking streamer Gaules who regularly attracts a lot of CS:GO fans. Russian-speaking spectators also actively followed the tournament with local stream becoming the second by Peak Viewers (155K)
