The Regular Season of the MPL Malaysia Season 17 concluded on May 24, shattering the series' concurrent viewership record for this phase. With over 630,000 Peak Viewers (PV), it is already the second most popular event in this regional series.

The first MPL Malaysia split of the 2026 season peaked at 633,544 viewers during Week 3, Day 2 clash between Selangor Red Giants and RRQ Tora. This was a record for the Regular Season of the MP Malaysia and easily surpassed the peak viewership figure from the previous season by 88.2%.

A match between the top two on the table at that point, Selangor Red Giants eased to a 2:0 win over RRQ Tora to cement its place atop the table as the only unbeaten side.

The entry of RRQ Tora, part of the massively popular Indonesian esports organization, into the MPL Malaysia has been a massive reason for the league doing so well this year. RRQ has brought along plenty of Indonesian fans to one of Mobile Legends: Bang Bang's fastest-rising regional leagues, with the Indonesian peak already surpassing what we saw in the entirety of Season 16 by 62.8%.

RRQ Tora had joined the MPL Malaysia earlier this year after it was announced that the league was transitioning into an enhanced franchise format. It came just the third regional circuit to adopt this model after Indonesia and the Philippines.

Speaking of franchising, the move to such a model also saw the Regular Season format change a bit, adding two more weeks of action to the schedule. Despite two fewer sides competing, the event set a new watch time milestone for the regional Malaysian circuit, as the number of games has increased.

Moreover, the 17.7 million Hours Watched (HW) was a 148% spike in the watch time for the Regular Season compared to the MPL Malaysia Season 16. 

Selangor Red Giants' displays have also been crucial to this rise in viewership across metrics. MPL Malaysia's most dominant side in recent years has become a true global force, helping it build a loyal fanbase that tracks its every move and game, be it in the domestic circuit or at global events.
