ALGS: 2026 Championship kickoff averaged more viewers than previous edition
The biggest event on the Apex Legends esports calendar for 2025 got underway on January 15, and the world's best PC battle royale shooter players are battling for a large prize pool and global glory. The ALGS: 2026 Championship kickoff saw slight dips from the previous edition, but it was more consistently watched by viewers.
The kickoff of the 2025 World Championship for Apex Legends reached 169,700 Peak Viewers (PV) during Round 4 of the Group Stage, when pools B and D were in action. This was around 8% less than the corresponding numbers seen at the 2024 edition, also held in Japan.
With 1.16 million Hours Watched (HW), the watch time also slipped by 38.5% compared to the ALGS: 2024 Championship. However, with Japanese viewers showing more interest this time around, the kickoff for the 2025 iteration averaged slightly more viewers (5.52% higher).

This was because the groups B versus D phase of the kickoff for this Apex Legends Global Series competition saw as many as five Japanese rosters battle it out. The biggest name in action during this round was Fnatic, the European esports organization with an all-Japanese roster, who currently sit in the third spot on the table.
The final day of the Group Stage of this prestigious Apex Legends tournament is underway. At the end of all the matches, 20 among the 40 participants will head into the Winner's Bracket of the Bracket Stage, while the bottom 20 will do battle in the Loser's Bracket Round 1.
The Bracket Stage will be a one-day event held on January 17, with the Finals, which will feature the 20 remaining teams competing in the Match Point format, scheduled for January 18.
