CBLOL Split 2 cemented 2024 as the circuit’s most successful year ever

CBLOL Split 2 cemented 2024 as the circuit’s most successful year ever

The 2024 season of the Brazilian regional circuit for League of Legends, CBLOL, has cemented itself as the series’ most exciting year yet. Three esports organizations competed closely at the top level of the circuit, and the new rules allowing community broadcasters have empowered new Brazilian fans to take in the action through their favourite content creators. It’s no surprise that League of Legends is one of Brazil’s fastest-growing and largest esports titles.

The 2024 season of CBLOL saw Vivo Keyd Stars emerge as one of the league’s top competitors. The organization put together a new roster for this year, and even brought in new coaching staff mid-season. The team finished the CBLOL Split 2 2024 in second place, falling behind the new champions paiN Gaming. LOUD, one of Brazil’s most dominant organization’s ever, faltered at the finish line, and ended Split 2 in fourth place.

The combination of co-casters and this exciting season with three teams going head-to-head contributed to the CBLOL Split 2 2024 becoming the second-most popular tournament in over three years, falling only behind the first split of the year. In total, the circuit reached 331.7K Peak Viewers for its grand final, increasing slightly on last year’s Split 2 peak viewership, which was the more popular split of the year.

Throughout the about 140-hour-long season, Split 2 of 2024 generated 18.72M Hours Watched, making it the third-most-watched CBLOL event ever. This was thanks to the events extremely high average viewership, which settled at 135K AV. This viewership was largely brought in by community caster Baiano, whose coverage of the circuit has been especially popular.

The grand final of Split 2 this year featured paiN Gaming against Vivo Keyd Stars. The new VKS team performed strongly throughout the entire season, but fell 3-1 against paiN Gaming. The excitement behind Keyd Stars’ new roster made them one of the event’s most popular teams, which helped the event to reach its peak. However, LOUD remain one of Brazil’s favourite organizations, and a grand final featuring the green organization may have resulted in a higher peak.

CBLOL Split 2 2024 Top Streamers

Many community casters have joined the CBLOL in recent time, but none of them are as popular as Baiano. The Brazilian boasts large followings across YouTube and Twitch, and his history as a League of Legends professional player makes him the ideal streamer for many fans. His coverage of the final was especially popular, where both of his channels reached well over 60K concurrent viewers.

Baiano’s coverage of the CBLOL Academy, the regions’ second-tier circuit, has also been especially watched. The creator is supporting his own organization, Ilha das Lendas, with his co-coverage of the circuit, and he helped the series to reach its highest peak viewership in years. Allowing community casters has helped the CBLOL to continue to improve its viewership compared to previous years and make 2024 its most popular year on record.

CBLOL Split 2 2024 Top matches

In terms of the most popular matches of the second split this year, the top three titans were all well reflected. PaiN Gaming, one of Brazil’s oldest esports organizations, finally broke their losing streak against LOUD. The organization has struggled for years to win a split, and 2024 finally brought them the championship again.

LOUD’s match against paiN Gaming earlier in the playoffs stage generated 267.4K PV, but the green organization struggled through the playoffs stage this split. The team was eliminated to the lower bracket earlier on by paiN, and after that they struggled to find their feet against FURIA and RED Canids.

Comparing the overall 2024 season for the CBLOL to last year, it becomes clear how much of an impact community casters have on the circuit’s viewership. The 2023 season of the CBLOL was broadcast only on official channels, and viewership suffered for it. The re-emergence of Baiano as a community caster for the circuit in 2024 produced peak and average viewerships the league had never seen before.

Although the 2024 Split 2 was unable to match the peaks reached earlier in the year, it still recorded a stark increase in viewership compared to the past few years. This year, the CBLOL has become the third-most popular regional circuit in League of Legends, falling only behind the dominant LCK and the LEC. The circuit outperformed the quickly growing VCS, and also the waning LCS circuit.

PaiN Gaming’s long-awaited trophy combined with the excitement built up behind the explosive new VKS roster made the CBLOL Split 2 2024 one of the most exciting seasons of League of Legends in Brazil, and the event’s viewership reflected that. League of Legend’s in Brazil is growing overall, in its top-level, and in its second-tier; the esports title will now have to bring that viewership to the new pan-Americas circuit beginning next year, which Esports Charts will cover more in detail soon.
