Gaules attracted almost 12 times more Peak Viewers than the official Brazilian stream of PGL Major Copenhagen 2024
Brazilian streamer Gaules became the most popular community caster (and channel overall) of the PGL Major Copenhagen 2024 on the tournament's first day; he attracted nearly 185K Peak Viewers. Gaules' broadcast turned out to be 12 times more popular than the channels of BTS Brasil, which officially covers the major for Brazilian fans.
In the past, Gaules has served as an official streamer for almost all of the latest Counter-Strike Majors, but he did not secure official broadcasting rights this time. The rights for Brazilian casting were obtained by a team that previously operated as the Brazilian branch of the Beyond the Summit studio. Gaules' involvement in the tournament's coverage was uncertain — the streamer himself complained that he couldn't reach an agreement with the organizers regarding the broadcast and was unlikely to go live. This news sparked significant discussion within the community — some supported Gaules, while others sided with the studio.

A few days before the event Gaules announced that he would be covering the PGL Major Copenhagen 2024, however, the Brazilian streamer didn't receive any special conditions for broadcasting, and he had to stream with a two-minute delay: just like any other community caster.
Competition between Gaules & BTS Brasil was one of the reasons the Portuguese language is showing impressive dynamics at the PGL Major Copenhagen 2024; but there was another big contributor: RTP Arena. This channel also covers the tournament in Portuguese, with a focus on European viewers who follow the matches of the Portuguese team SAW, which has been showing promising results lately. The peak on the RTP Arena channel on the tournament's first day reached 28K concurrent viewers: almost three times more than the main BTS Brasil channel.
Overall, the share of the Portuguese language on the first day of the PGL Major Copenhagen 2024 increased by 62% compared to the Paris Major. Gaules managed to retain his audience and even improved his performance compared to the previous world championship. Portuguese-speaking Counter-Strike fans only benefited from the greater variety of broadcasts. While RTP Arena and BTS Brasil may not be able to compete with Gaules in terms of audience coverage, they still have plenty of opportunities to increase viewership before the end of the tournament.
