M7 World Championship Swiss Stage shows across-the-board viewership growth YoY
The Swiss Stage of the M7 World Championship concluded over the weekend, with the final round of games concluding on January 17. Luckily for the viewership potential of this prestigious event, the fan favourite side, ONIC Esports, avoided any more slip-ups to safely make the playoffs, with its final match in this phase emerging as the event's most popular one.
The Swiss Stage of the M7 World Championship peaked at 3.62 million live viewers during the Round 5 clash between ONIC Esports and Team Falcons. With advancement to the Knockout Stage on the line and elimination for the loser, the match carried high stakes and drew strong fan engagement.

The jeopardy in the final match of the Swiss Stage helped it outdo the Peak Viewers (PV) numbers of the M6 World Championship's corresponding phase by a healthy 41.21%. With almost 45.6 million Hours Watched (HW), this year's Swiss Stage also racked up 45.77% more watch time than last year.
The fact that ONIC Esports, one of the pre-tournament favourites, found itself in such a situation was surprising, as the winner of the last two MPL Indonesia seasons struggled in the initial Swiss Stage games. However, the powerhouse side pulled up its socks to win its final two matches to ensure it made the knockouts and kept alive its hopes of winning a first Mobile Legends: Bang Bang world title.
ONIC Esports' elimination would have definitely affected the viewership potential of the M7 World Championship. Alongside being a contender for the trophy, it is one of the most followed and supported sides, attracting millions of viewers from back home and other regions in Southeast Asia.

Three of ONIC's matches ended among the Swiss Stages' most popular games. This included its shock loss to rising Burmese side Yangon Galacticos on Day 2, with the champion of Myanmar's MLBB Super League Season 2 building on this result to punch its own ticket to the Knockout Stage.
Yangon Galacticos' great performances also meant that Burmese fans remained highly engaged throughout the Swiss Stage. The side put up a decent 3:2 record here, and with progress assured, fans back home showed enough interest to help the Burmese language enjoy a 116.3% rise in its watch time compared to the same phase at the M6 World Championship.
Moonton has also partnered with many top regional streamers to organize watch parties. These popular influencers have been able to bring fresh sets of eyes to the product, contributing to the increased viewership numbers this year.
The Upper Bracket QFs of the playoffs in the latest edition of the MLBB World Championship ended on January 18. This stage will run until January 25, when the next world champion in one of the most popular esports titles globally today will be crowned.
