Valorant Masters Santiago opened to stable dynamics with regional bursts of viewers — over 600% for one group
The Valorant Champions Tour's first international event of 2026 has arrived, and opening viewership appears stable with some demographic mixups. After four regional Kickoff tournaments, Valorant Masters Santiago 2026 marks the moment all twelve qualified teams finally converged. The first two days of the Swiss Stage saw eight different teams clash, leading to strong representation for many audiences.
So far, across both opening days, all four games were clean 2:0 sweeps. The closest a game came to the third match was T1 vs Team Liquid, which saw TL claim a 15:13 overtime win to secure the series. The two China representatives for the opening games saw both XLG and 2024 Valorant Champions Tour world champions EDward Gaming lose their opening game against French upstarts Gentle Mates.
Gentle Mates and NRG were the winners of the first day of matches against their Chinese opponents; the match featuring the French side enjoyed strong viewership, with over 77,000 French-speaking viewers tuning in at peak to support the team on their international debut. Ultimately, it was the showdown between two regional powerhouses on the second day, PRX and G2 Esports, which became the most popular match of the event so far.
After some stumbles in their regional Kickoff, PRX arrived strong at Masters Santiago, quickly dispatching one of North America’s most veteran squads. The other match of Day 2 saw T1 face off against Team Liquid; in the end, the European squad of Team Liquid pushed through and advanced to the High matches.
Masters Santiago 2026 Opening Viewership Analysis

From a viewership standpoint, the opening weekend delivered a strong showing, maintaining viewership compared to past Masters. While overall watch time dropped, this largely came to be due to a drop in broadcasting time; compared to Masters Toronto, Average Viewers dropped by a marginal 1.7%. The tournament was watched across the globe, featuring many broadcasters across live streaming platforms Twitch, YouTube, TikTok, SOOP Korea, and CHZZK.
In terms of regional audiences, French audiences showed the strongest esports viewership statistics boost for the opening of Masters Santiago. The audience’s growth was clearly caused by Lucas “Squeezie” Hauchard, a top French influencer and content creator, as well as a co-founder of the Gentle Mates esports organization. Supporting his team at an international Valorant esports event for the first time, M8’s early matches saw over 50,000 viewers tune in through Squeezie’s co-stream.
With the Swiss Stage is continuing, the stakes will escalate rapidly. Some teams are already facing their first elimination match, and while things continue to heat up, it will become clear which audiences will drive the primary viewership for this Latin American Valorant event.
So far, the Pacific–Americas rivalry, combined with Paper Rex's status as reigning Masters Toronto champions and G2's profile as one of the Americas' most recognizable franchises, drove the opening day matches to their peak viewership. This match was highly popular across both Asian, European, and American audiences, making it one of the most exciting match-ups of Valorant teams at Masters Santiago.
Top Matches at Masters Santiago, Days 1 & 2

While Gentle Mates’ international debut victory over EDward Gaming was enough to surge viewership from French-language audiences, PRX and G2 esports reigned as the top opening game thanks to their wide international appeal. T1’s opening game against Team Liquid also generated significant viewership, utilizing the audience of both EMEA and the Pacific region. Reigning world champions NRG had their first game against Chinese team XLG, but it ultimately failed to generate significant traction in livestreaming.
With the remaining Swiss Stage games — and soon the Playoffs — ahead of us, viewership is soon to rise for Masters Santiago. In the Playoffs stage, keep an eye out for more of these pan-regional showdowns; while derbies between rivals can be entertaining, casting a wide net for an international audience is often the difference maker for event exposure. Esports Charts will track viewership data — updated live on the tournament page — for Masters Santiago throughout the event.
