The Brazilian dream is still alive: tournament statistics before the final day of the PGL Antwerp Major Challengers Stage

May 12, 2022 3 leitura min

At the CS:GO Major, the first group stage is coming to an end. Esports Charts overviews the results of the third day of the tournament, analyzes its viewership statistics, and tells which teams will compete for the last slots in the Legends Stage.

On the third day of the New Challengers Stage, Team Spirit defeated Astralis in the top-seeded matches, Outsiders defeated forZe in the Russian derby, and ENCE easily handled the Bad News Eagles team from Kosovo. The winners joined the pool of teams that will play in the next stage of the tournament.

In the knockout matches, the fight between Imperial Esports and the Mongolian team IHC Esports turned out to be the most dramatic one: The team of Gabriel FalleN Toledo lost the first map, but then confidently won the remaining two and kept the potential of reaching the next stage. Then there was a touching moment: the legendary FalleN exchanged jerseys with IHC player nin9 and expressed respect to the Mongolian team, noting their great potential.

In the remaining matches, Team Liquid kicked off the tournament its compatriots from Complexity Gaming: 2:0 (16:12 on Ancient, 16:12 on Vertigo). It should be reminded that TL started the tournament with two losses, and now it is one step away from advancing to the next stage. In the last match of the day, MIBR defeated the best Turkish team, Eternal Fire (16:13 on Vertigo, 16:11 on Nuke). As such, three out of three representatives of Brazil can still participate in the next stage of the major.

Viewership statistics of the third day

The third game day aroused the least interest among the audience compared to previous ones. Peak Viewers indicator reached 613K (down 9% compared to the second day). Most of the viewers at that moment were following the encounter between forZe and Outsiders, and simultaneously there was also a battle between Imperial and IHC.

In total, viewers spent more than 4.4M hours watching broadcasts (down 15% compared to the second day). There was a total of 441.9K Average Viewers, which is 3% fewer than the respective indicator of the second day of the tournament.

It should be noted that the decline in viewership since the start of the tournament is largely due to the drop in Spanish language indicators. On the first day, Spanish was extremely popular, as several popular community casters covered the games of the Argentinean team 9z, which was one of the first to drop out of the championship.

It should be noted that the success of the Brazilian teams led to an increase in the activity on the Portuguese-language streams (where the indicators approached the values of the first day of the tournament). Additionally, for the third day in a row, the records of the discipline in the Mongolian and Albanian languages were updated.
