PGL Cluj-Napoca 2026 became the second most popular non-Major tournament organized by PGL
On February 22, PGL Cluj-Napoca 2026 wrapped up in Romania, bringing together some of the best Counter-Strike teams in the world. This year, the organizers drew an even larger audience to the broadcasts, while Team Vitality secured their second championship title of 2026.
PGL Cluj-Napoca 2026 was the first PGL tournament of 2026, with participants selected based on the January VRS Global rankings. Team Vitality dominated the event, leaving their opponents with virtually no chance. During the group stage, Dan “apEX” Madesclaire’s team defeated G2 Esports, The Mongolz and MOUZ, securing three quick wins to become the first team to advance to the playoff bracket. In the playoffs, Team Vitality proved unstoppable, sweeping past Aurora Gaming, The Mongolz and PARIVISION without dropping a single map.

Mathieu “ZyWOo” Herbaut earned another MVP award. Just a week earlier, Team Vitality had secured victory at IEM Kraków 2026, the first million-dollar tournament of 2026. Back in December, they also claimed the championship at the StarLadder Budapest Major 2025, bringing their total Major wins to three.

PGL Cluj-Napoca 2026 far surpassed last year’s edition across all viewership metrics. The grand final peaked at 881,600 concurrent viewers, up 63.5% from the PGL Cluj-Napoca 2025 grand final. Average viewers rose by 55.2%, while total watch hours jumped 60.4%, marking a major boost in audience engagement.
Shortly after the tournament ended, PGL announced a new partnership with the Cluj-Napoca city administration. Under the agreement, the city will continue hosting Counter-Strike tournaments under the PGL brand through 2029. This move is set to boost Cluj-Napoca’s appeal as a tourist destination and will surely delight Romanian Counter-Strike fans.

PGL Cluj-Napoca 2026 ranked as the sixth most popular event in PGL’s history. Excluding Major tournaments, it stands as the company’s second most popular, trailing only PGL Astana 2025.
