Worlds is the most popular esports tournament among all the desktop disciplines, which gathers millions of simultaneous viewers. Last event of the series lacked just over 100K Peak Viewers to set a new record of the game: perhaps Worlds 2021 can make it?

Biggest LoL events by Hours Watched and Peak Viewers
2019 Worlds Championship is currently the most popular event in the discipline by Peak Viewers. Back then the semifinal between T1 and G2 Esports was simultaneously watched by over 3.9M viewers. Last Worlds lacked 103K viewers to set the new record.
However, Worlds 2020 became the biggest event in the discipline by Hours Watched as it gained over 139M by the metric. This event outperformed Worlds 2019 by 2.1%, which is quite impressive as it was on air for 5 hours less compared to the last pre-pandemic Worlds.
Worlds 2021 is just about to start, it kicks-off on October 5. The event will compete for an online audience with The International 2021 and PGL Stockholm Major. It will be an impressive achievement for Riot Games, if its LoL event will be able to set some new viewership records.
Even more ambitious goal for Worlds 2021 is to become the biggest event ever in esports. Currently Free Fire World Series 2021 Singapore is the biggest event in esports history with over 5.4M Peak Viewers and over 2M Average Viewers.
