Top matches so far at the M7 World Championship

The ongoing M7 World Championship saw its Swiss Stage end on January 17, with the final eight sides set to battle it out for the ultimate prize in Mobile Legends: Bang Bang esports over the next week. So far, the Group and Swiss stages have produced great action, surprise results and a new challenger to the throne, ensuring viewership has remained high.

Over the last two weeks, one of the biggest stories to emerge from the latest edition of the MLBB World Championship has been the rise of Alter Ego. In terms of viewership, ONIC Esports has once again garnered the most interest from fans, although the journey has not been entirely smooth sailing.

The two-time defending MPL Indonesia champion has been part of almost all the most popular games leading up to the playoffs of the M7 World Championship. Esports Charts has looked within its event database to see which teams have faced off on this table, with data taken until the end of the Swiss Stage.

#5 ONIC Esports vs Boostgate Esports

In the fifth spot is the Swiss Stage, Day 1 clash between Turkish side Boostgate Esports and ONIC Esports. A best-of-one clash, it was also the first game for the powerhouse Indonesian side, generating enough interest among fans of both teams to reach 2.67 million Peak Viewers (PV). The former crashed out after losing all three of its matches, but the experience the relatively new roster would have undoubtedly gained will hold it in good stead in future international championships.

#4 Selangor Red Giants OG Esports vs Team Liquid PH

The only entry here not to feature ONIC Esports, this was a clash between Selangor Red Giants OG EsportsMalaysia's most dominant name over the past few years, and Team Liquid PH, the Philippines' top side recently. Both sides have tasted global success at other events since 2024, but world championship glory continues to elude them, so they'll be hoping this is the year it all comes together for one of them. Their Round 3 High Match on Day 4 did 2.79 million HW, with SRG emerging as 2:1 victors to advance to the Knockout Stage and send TLPH to the Round 4 High Matches bracket.

#3 ONIC Esports vs Yangon Galacticos

The shock result of this coveted Mobile Legends: Bang Bang tournament so far, and arguably one of the biggest upsets in the mobile MOBA's long competitive history, this series notched 2.8 million PV. Myanmar's MLBB Super League Season 2 champion, Yangon Galacticos, who not many fans would have heard of outside of its homeland, shocked its more illustrious opponent 1:0 during their Round 2 clash. The result sent shockwaves across the community and saw the question, "has ONIC been eliminated at M7?become one of the most searched questions among MLBB fans.

#2 ONIC Esports vs EVIL

This Day 6 clash saw MPL Singapore Season 10 champion EVIL take on ONIC Esports in a Round 4 Low Match. Having lost two matches already, the latter was in danger of getting knocked out if it endured another poor result here. Luckily, the side put up a clinical display to win 2:0, knock EVIL out and advance to Round 5, with 3.17 million viewers watching the series at its peak.

#1 ONIC Esports vs Team Falcons

This best-of-three Round 5 game would decide who made the playoffs and who got knocked out. With so much on the line, especially for a side like ONIC, considered one of the pre-tournament favorites, over 3.62 million viewers tuned in at its peak to watch it battle superstar Saudi esports organization Team Falcons. Luckily for the team and its legions of fans, the Indonesian team edged the series 2:1 to advance and keep alive its hopes of a maiden MLBB world title.

Most popular matches until the Swiss Stage of the M7 World Championship

The Knockout Stage of the biggest event on the annual Mobile Legends: Bang Bang esports calendar will resume on January 21 at the Tennis Indoor Stadium Senayan. This Double-elimination bracket will see all the matches played in the best-of-five format, apart from the Upper Bracket Quarterfinals (Bo3) and the Grand Final (Bo7).
