MOUZ, Falcons, Vitality shine as IEM Dallas 2025 viewership soars

The Group Stage of the IEM Dallas 2025 concluded on May 22, with the viewership seeing a massive spike compared to last year. All the attention was focused on the return of superstar Oleksandr "s1mple" Kostyljev, but a few other stories also helped attract record viewership.

After four days of intense action between some of the world's top teams, six sides booked their places in the Playoffs. Led by the efforts of a dominant Ádám "torzsi" Torzsás, MOUZ continued its run of making the Playoffs at recent events by topping its group without dropping a game.

The other pool topper was Team Vitality, which sealed its place in the Semifinals alongside MOUZ. The Quarterfinalists are Team Falcons, The MongolZ, GamerLegion, and Aurora Gaming.

The Saudi Arabian organization Falcons looks dangerous with Ilya "m0NESY" Osipov in its ranks. His reliable pairing with another recent signing, Nikola "NiKo" Kovač, has meant that the side has only lost to Team Vitality and MOUZ since the Russian youngster's signing. If the side can tighten its defaults and executes and make them more consistent, it could very well spell trouble for the other sides hoping to take home one of the top Counter-Strike 2 trophies of the year.

Many top names like HEROIC, Team Liquid, and FURIA fell by the wayside early, but the biggest miss will definitely be FaZe Clan. The American esports organization made the news after picking up s1mple on loan from Natus Vincere, and fans were eager to see the legendary sniper in action once again.

This excitement was seen on the opening day when s1mple's debut with FaZe Clan pulled in record viewership numbers. This trend continued throughout the Group Stage, with the team enjoying high fan engagement and ending in all three of the most popular matches.

IEM Dalls 2025 Group Stage viewership and comparisons to last year

The team's opening match, which marked the Ukrainian Counter-Strike legend's debut, contributed to the event touching 913,741 Peak Viewers (PV) despite ending in a 0:2 loss to Team Liquid. This was a massive 161.6% higher than the corresponding peak concurrent viewership figures witnessed at the Intel Extreme Masters Dallas 2024.

The story was similar in terms of the watch time and average viewership, both of which saw massive jumps compared to last year. Clearly, the hype around s1mple and his team, although its absence in the Playoffs, which will be held live at DreamHack Dallas in the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center, could see numbers decline to more normal levels.

S1mple's presence, complemented by the dominance of MOUZ and the solid displays of Team Falcons, means that the IEM Dallas 2025 might already have ended as one of the most popular Counter-Strike tournaments of the year. The playoffs will run from May 24 to 25, with the winner set to take home $125,000 out of a total prize pool of a million dollars.
