Co-casting from HandOfBlood tried to save the Prime League Winter 2025 viewership

Like other European leagues, the German Prime League Winter 2025 saw a lot of changes before the season kicked off. Compared to last year, nearly half of the teams have dropped out, which is likely to impact the league's overall viewership. Esports Charts took a look at how things went during the first week of Germany’s top regional League of Legends league.

At the end of 2024, teams like SK Gaming Prime, FC Schalke 04, MOUZ, and NNO Prime announced they were leaving the Prime League. Some of these organizations chose to step away from their academies and stop competing in the regional league, while others decided to leave League of Legends altogether. Regardless, these were well-established teams with strong histories, recognizable brands, and solid community support. They’ve been replaced by lesser-known teams that had previously competed in the second division of the Prime League.

Prime League Winter 2025 - Week 1 Viewership Statistics

During the first week of Prime League Winter 2025, four matches were played. The most-watched matchup was Austrian Force vs. Eintracht Spandau, with Eintracht Spandau coming out on top. The match drew 32,046 viewers, thanks to a community-driven broadcast by Maximilian "HandOfBlood" Knabe, a popular German streamer and Co-founder of Eintracht Spandau. His stream brought in the highest viewership across all channels covering the league in Week 1. Other matches, without the backing of community casting, saw much smaller audiences.

So far, viewership for Prime League Winter 2025 hasn’t been all that impressive. The German league trails behind NCL, LVP Superliga, and LFL in both average and peak viewership this season. Compared to last year’s Prime League Spring 2024, the numbers are down by 30% and 39%, respectively. While things might pick up by the end of the season, there’s not much indication that they will.

Prime League Winter 2025 matches will run all the way through April. You can stay updated on the schedule, results, and viewership stats over on Esports Charts.
