The PUBG Mobile Super League Southeast Asia Spring 2023, a partnership PUBG Mobile league in Southeast Asia, saw its Group Stage conclude on April 9. Its viewership numbers made the top ten for events held in SEA, and with three more days of action, there’s still time to climb up the table.
The first phase of this tournament ran from March 22 to April 9, with the 16 sides to play in the Finals now decided. They will battle over 18 matches (6 per day) to see who will come out on top and be crowned the winner, alongside pocketing a large part of the $250K prize pool.

The PUBG Mobile Super League Southeast Asia Spring 2023 Group Stage reached 292K Peak Viewers, with the peak match coming from Round 9 during Week 3 Day 2, the only game to record more than 200K average concurrent viewers so far. During the match, Boom Esports trumped Alter Ego to the Chicken Dinner thanks to nine kills in a battle of two of the more popular sides in action.
The event also notched 11.33M Hour Watched and 124K Average Viewers over an Airtime of almost 91 hours. The lousy performance of Team Secret, one of the most popular esports organizations across the world, who finished last in the Group Stage, did not help in terms of pulling in more viewers during the Group Stage.

YouTube is the most preferred platform for audiences, taking up 63.3% of the entire viewership pie, which is unsurprising considering it is the choice for this region when it comes to streaming and watching live matches. TikTok take up the remaining viewers, with the former being the more popular opinion among the two.
However, TikTok did have more concurrent viewers than FB, a testament to the sheer number of users on the app. This is despite the fact that it is inaccessible in many countries in the Southeast region, which has seen its viewership share in many events across the market go down over the past few months.
Indonesian was once again the most popular language, registering 64.9% of the viewership share from this PUBG Mobile event’s Group Stage. Bahasa Malaysian was the only other language with a double-digit share of this chart, notching 15.1% of the audience numbers.
Norwegian was a surprise addition to the list of languages that viewers watched the event in, although it did negligible numbers. The same was the case with Twitch, which had a really small contribution to the overall viewership’s watch hours for this competition.

When looking at all-time, the PUBG Mobile Super League Southeast Asia Spring 2023 was tenth in terms of concurrent viewers among other SEA tournaments, with three days of action still to go. However, when looking at this year alone, the Group Stage was easily the best in all viewership metrics.
It is a testament to the popularity of the game in this region and its loyal fanbase that they have turned up in such large numbers for the maiden edition of this competition, which came into being as a result of the changes in PUBG Mobile’s esports structure from 2023. When it comes to comparison with global events of 2022-2023, viewership stats are obviously nowhere near, but it still has a chance to overtake a global event, the PUBG Mobile World Invitational 2022, in terms of concurrent viewership.
The PUBG Mobile Super League Southeast Asia Spring 2023 Finals will take place from April 14 to 16 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. With teams like Rex Regum Qeon, FaZe Clan, BOOM Esports, and Bigetron Red Villains in action, fans can expect to be treated to some amazing action.
