January was a hot month. Fantastic ELEAGUE Major set a new standard for the quality of video broadcasting, collecting a record number of viewers among non-Chinese audiences. At the same time, several Chinese tournaments and qualifications took place in January - and it seemed like inhabitants of Middle Kingdom watched adventures of their idols with at least three computers and ten tablet each, at the same time. Millions of viewers are not a joke.
In February, hordes of Chinese fans have not gone away - there are still millions of them. League of Legends remained the queen of the ball, but Dota 2 also had a lot of viewers - StarLadder i-League StarSeries Season 3 was watched by more than three million Chinese at once.
MOBA from Valve wasn't so popular in other regions. Without the Chinese audience, Dota 2 is not in the list of top 5 of the most popular tournaments in February. StarLadder i-League StarSeries Season 3 is sitting in ambush on sixth place, falling behind the nearest competitor by 60.000 spectators.
The whole not Chinese world remains conservative with its tastes. CS:GO tournament in the first place, all other positions are held by League of Legends. ELEAGUE Major CS:GO was watched by 1,300 million people simultaneously, while the February DreamHack Masters had only "miserable" 450 thousand, despite the triumph of the public favorites - Virtus.Pro. There were 3 days less in February compared to January, but this does not explain the mysterious loss of a million viewers.
CIS region is as always on its own frequency. Russian viewers don’t have any interest in League of Legends, give them Dota 2 and CS:GO and they will be happy - these games occupied the list of the most popular broadcasts. The most unexpected sight of February was WGL Season 2, the World of Tanks tournament, in the top 5 most popular broadcasts. World of Tanks can become extremely popular esports discipline one day.
