The second year of Apex Legends esports circuit was a breakthrough for the discipline: the audience of major tournaments grew several times and the main championship prize pool increased to a record $2 million. Apex Legends has significantly expanded its fan base in its second esports year. The latest ALGS: 2022 Split 2 Playoffs and ALGS: 2022 Championship have become the most popular tournaments in the history of the discipline. The shooter is currently also among the Top 5 most watched categories on Twitch in 2022, surpassing CS:GO, Fortnite, and COD: Warzone by Hours Watched.

One of the most important changes to the new ALGS season was the reduction of the number of teams in each region' professional league from 40 to 30. According to the organizers, the reason for this was to increase the level of competition. Twenty two teams in each region received direct invitations to the professional leagues. The remaining 8 places in each region will be taken by the best teams according to the results of the October qualifying tournaments. In addition, regional finals will be held on the last day of each stage of the regular season featuring the top 20 teams. The winners of these finals will be guaranteed a place in the next split playoffs.

The total prize pool of the third year of ALGS remains unchanged at $5 million, while the minimum rank for participation in ALGS has been lowered to Silver IV (4), giving even more players from around the world the opportunity to participate in Apex Legends esports. Another new feature is that every team that wins the Challenger Circuit competition automatically qualifies for the upcoming split. In addition, this year's ALGS Last Chance qualifiers will be combined into a single tournament, with the top Challenger Circuit teams and those who did not qualify for the professional league.

Four pre-season online qualifiers will be held from October 8-10, October 15-17, October 22-24 and October 29-31, respectively. Stage 1 of the professional league begins on November 6, with a $500K prize pool.
