Worlds 2023 experienced viewership swing on the first day no Korean or Vietnamese teams compete
The sixth day of the Worlds 2023 main event kicked off with the first two matches of Round 4. The day of matches pitted Cloud9 against Fnatic, and MAD Lions against Weibo Gaming. Despite the high-pressure elimination matches, viewership was low for the day overall.
Today's four teams represented three regions: MAD Lions and Fnatic from EMEA, Cloud9 from North America, and Weibo Gaming from China. Korean and Vietnamese viewership has been integral to the viewership for Worlds 2023, and today was the first day of the main event where neither a Korean nor Vietnamese team played a match.

Of the two elimination matches, MAD Lions vs Weibo Gaming was the more popular option for fans to watch. The match generated 1.18M Peak Viewers and ultimately saw Weibo Gaming claim a clean 2-0 victory, meaning MAD Lions are eliminated from Worlds 2023.
Although this match claimed over 1M PV, viewership from Korean and Vietnamese audiences was low. In fact, Day 6 of the Swiss Stage marked the lowest point for Korean and Vietnamese viewership in the main event so far. Korean broadcasts managed only 204.5K PV for this day and Vietnamese broadcasts 135.8K PV. Even when the Play-In stage is included, this remains the lowest Peak Viewers recorded by Vietnamese broadcasts for the entirety of Worlds 2023 so far.
While Korean and Vietnamese viewership for the day was the lowest yet at the main event, other languages had a strong performance. English recorded 418K PV, the highest PV for the language in almost a week, and other major languages like Spanish and French showed strong viewership. Spanish received 143K PV, meaning it overtook Vietnamese to become the third-most-popular language of the day.

The game between Fnatic and Cloud9 struggled to compete with other matches at the event in terms of viewership. Despite Fnatic performing a reverse sweep to win the Bo3 2-1 and avoiding elimination from the event, the match could not break the 1M PV barrier. Of the 26 matches at the main event of Worlds 2023 event so far, this match becomes the fifth to not garner more than 1M+ PV. Even worse for Fnatic, this becomes their second match of the event to receive less than 1M PV.
With Cloud9 now eliminated from the event, NRG Esports remains NA’s last hope to continue onwards at the event. Round 4 of the Swiss Stage at Worlds 2023 continues on Friday, October 27 and Saturday, October 28. Friday will host GAM Esports competing against DPlus, both teams facing elimination if they lose the Bo3, and Saturday features G2 Esports and T1 playing separate matches.

Although viewership was in a lull today, this will likely quickly turn around tomorrow. As GAM Esports and Dplus are both facing potential elimination at the event, expect high viewership from both Vietnamese and Korean audiences to return to full power. On top of this, fan-favourites T1 always draw in sizable viewership, so Saturday will likely feature strong viewership as well.
