2025 Worlds Final viewership forecast: T1 and Gen.G hold the key
The 2025 World Championship is slowly nearing its end, with just six matches left before we learn which team will claim the title of the world’s best in League of Legends. Beyond the battle for the crown, one of the tournament’s biggest storylines is its peak viewership. For years, Worlds has been breaking records, not only within the series but across the entire esports industry. Esports Charts analysts explored whether this trend can continue in 2025 and what it would take to make it happen.

While preparing the forecast, we identified three potential scenarios for the Grand Final: Good, Average, and Moderate. Our analysts examined viewership trends from past Worlds tournaments, evaluated how finalists’ Average Viewers and Peak Viewers shifted between stages, and even factored in possible margins of error.
Based on our analysis, the most likely outcomes for the 2025 World Championship Grand Final are closely tied to the success of two teams: T1 and Gen.G. If neither team reaches the final, the odds of drawing a massive livestream audience drop significantly. Any other Grand Final matchup would fall under the Moderate Scenario, where we project peak viewership to range between 3.3 and 5.2 million. In that case, breaking the series record would be out of the question.
The Average Scenario applies if at least one of the top teams — T1 or Gen.G — reaches the Grand Final. In this case, the second finalist doesn’t make much difference. Peak viewership is expected to fall between 5.2 and 6.2 million concurrent viewers. While the odds of breaking a new viewership record rise slightly, they remain quite slim.

The Good Scenario can only happen if both top teams — T1 and Gen.G — make it to the Grand Final. In this case, peak viewership is projected to range between 6.2 and 7.5 million, suggesting that even an all-Korean showdown might not be enough to set a new record for the series.
The Knockout Stage of the 2025 World Championship kicks off on October 28 and runs through November 9. All matches will be played in a best-of-five format using the Fearless Draft system.
