Valve cancelled first major of DPC 2021-2022

Jan 12, 2022 2 dakika okuma

First major tournament in Dota Pro Circuit 2021-2022 was cancelled. Thus, the first stage of the season will end after the final matches in regional leagues. It was announced by Valve in the Steam’s Dota 2 blog.

The reason for the decision is the challenging situation with COVID-19, which caused an increase in travel restrictions. As Valve claims, all this made it “unfeasible for all qualified teams to gather for a LAN tournament”.

The company has also redistributed the points of the cancelled major to 2nd and 3rd ones. New balance of points looks as follows:

Major 2:

  • 1st Place — 680 Points

  • 2nd Place — 610 Points

  • 3rd Place — 530 Points

  • 4th Place — 460 Points

  • 5th/6th Place — 385 Points

  • 7th/8th Place — 240 Points

Major 3:

  • 1st Place — 820 Points

  • 2nd Place — 740 Points

  • 3rd Place — 670 Points

  • 4th Place — 590 Points

  • 5th/6th Place — 515 Points

  • 7th/8th Place — 360 Points
