The weekend gone by was understandably dominated by news around League of Legends and its pinnacle event, the 2025 World Championship. However, Riot Games did have other news for followers to digest, including another of its popular titles and a partnership that aims to make the entire esports experience better for fans.
Esports Charts runs down all the news that Riot Games fans received over the past few days, outside of the main 2025 Worlds:
- Teamfight Tactics' latest Set 16, Lore & Legends, will come out on December 3 as part of the release of Patch 16.1. It has arguably become the most anticipated update in the game's history, with many fans calling it the biggest set of all time.
- We also got information on the dates for the LoL event at the Esports World Cup 2026. This S-Tier competition will be held from July 13 to 17, although the format, number of teams and qualification criteria have not yet been revealed.
- Riot Games also revealed that it had entered a multi-year strategic partnership with Globant, a digitally native company focused on reinventing businesses through innovative technology solutions. The latter will support some of Riot's most critical innovation initiatives and fan communities across League of Legends and Valorant esports.
The 2025 LoL Worlds was won by T1, who became one of the few sides in esports to win three straight world championships. It also cemented Lee "Faker" Sang-hyeok's legacy as the game's greatest and most successful player ever, with this being his sixth global trophy from eight finals played.
The Grand Final against KT Rolster generated an astounding 5.5 million Peak Viewers (PV), a great number in isolation, but behind the series record held by last year's event.
