CCT Online Finals #5 recap — BIG, Aurora Gaming reach Global Finals
The five Champion of Champions Tour Online Finals have concluded with the end of the latest one on December 7. It ended within the five most successful events in the series and paved the way for a few more slots to be filled for the final event that will happen in 2024.
In the Grand Final of the Playoffs, BIG eased past Aurora Gaming 2:0 to clinch the trophy, take home $100K, and seal its place in the $500K prize pool CCT Global Finals to be held from May 16 to 25 next year. The runner-up qualified for this competition as well alongside pocketing $40K out of a total purse of $200K.
Essential stats and most popular games from the CCT Online Finals #5
The CCT Online Finals #5 recorded 62.5K Peak Viewers during the Lower Bracket Quarterfinals between G2 Esports and Guild Eagles (formerly known as Bad News Eagles), with the latter springing a surprise by knocking its more fancied rival out. The Kosovan side would finish third, getting knocked out by Aurora Gaming in the Lower Bracket Final.
Unsurprisingly, G2 Esports was the most followed side, appearing four times on the list of five most popular matches. No other side had more than one entry, with the tournament winner not even making it once to this table.

This also meant that the Grand Final was far from the top of the most viewed games by peak concurrent viewership, with the Upper Bracket Final between the two eventual finalists finishing higher, in eighth. With a favorite like G2 going home early and the recent form of BIG not inspiring much among fans, the summit clash suffered greatly from a lack of interest from audiences.
Some key numbers and events from the CCT series so far
Overall, this CS2 series has done some solid numbers and has been a great addition to the roster of events in the discipline. Organizer GRID has worked hard since its inception in August 2022 to live up to the tag of having one of the biggest prize pools (combined) in CS2 history: $3.4M.
Teams have also been given a lot of game time, with this Europe-based series encompassing 48 Online Cups, one Studio Final, and five Online Finals, with all this culminating at the Arena Final. So far, 11 of the 16 sides have been decided for the mega event, with the rest to be decided from the various European regional qualifying tournaments.

What has helped make this series so beloved and successful are the detailed statistics that the official site offers for different barometers. Tables for top players, most smokes thrown on a map, kills with various guns, etc., have given it a very efficient and organizer feel, drawing viewers in and showing how much the organizers care about these tournaments.
