Chat analytics of The International 2022: most popular emotes, teams and players
The Esports Charts team continues to sum up The International 2022, the main Dota 2 event. This time we have analyzed chat activity on Twitch to find out on which channels viewers actively chatted with each other during the Playoffs, as well as which emotes and which players were most often mentioned in messages.
We have also reviewed the statistics of the Ukrainian-language stream by the Maincast studio, which was broadcasted on the dota2mc_ua channel. We should remind you that this channel set a record for audience reach, and also was more popular than some of the official channels in other languages.
Chat Activity on The International 2022 Official Channels
The dota2ti channel, where the tournament was officially broadcasted in English, became the leader by Unique Active Chatters. About 72.5K people interacted in the chat of the channel during the Playoffs, which accounts for slightly more than 6.1% of the broadcast's viewers total.
The dota2ti_ru channel (45.3K Active Chatters) takes second place in the Top. The audience activity was about the same as on the English-language stream — 6.3%. But the Russian-speaking chatters didn't communicate much — each of them sent 5.8 messages on average (the lowest metric in the Top).

The Spanish dota2ti_es channel had 24.6K Unique Active Chatters, and its audience activity level was as high as 22.6%. The dota2ti_pt channel outpaced dota2mc_ua by Active Chatters (7.2K), although the Ukrainina channel was ahead by Unique Viewers. Audience activity on the Portuguese-language stream was 16.45%, which is the second highest result after that of the Spanish-language stream.
The dota2mc_ua channel is in fifth place with 6.2K Active Chatters and a 7.2% level of audience activity. It should be noted that it set an esports record for Peak Viewers at the Ukrainian broadcast (44.9K viewers) during The International 2022.
Chat Activity on The International 2022 Community Casters Channels
The Russian streamer Nix became the most popular community caster of the tournament. During the Playoffs, there were more than 50.3K Unique Active Chatters on his channel. It means that almost 1 in 10 of the broadcast viewers used the chat. We should remind you that at The International 2022, Nix set a personal channel record for PV of 206K people.
The Russian-language channel just_ns is in second place by Active Chatters, totaling 33.1K people, which amounted to approximately 11% of the channel's Unique Authorized Viewers.
The only European in the Top is the Swedish streamer Gorgc — he had about 29.5K Active Chatters on his channel. And each such user sent 24.5 chat messages on average (this is the highest metric in the Top).
The Buster channel takes fourth place in the Top (21.5K). At the same time, he had the lowest percentage of audience activity (8.5%). It is interesting that Buster surpassed Gorgc by Unique Viewers, but fell behind the Swedish streamer by the number of active chatters.

LUL leads the emotes ranking of the Playoffs with more than 213.8K mentions on all channels. POG and KEKW are in second and third place with 157.6K and 153.8K mentions, respectively.
As for teams, Team Liquid became the leader in chats with more than 93K mentions. BOOM Esports is in second place with its tag mentioned 66.7K times. OG team, the two-time champion of The International series, rounds out the Top 3. Its name was written in chats more than 60K times. It is interesting that Tundra Esports, which won The International 2022, is not even in the Top 5 by the number of mentions in chats.
Considering the most popular players, MATUMBAMAN, the Team Liquid's carry player, was the most frequently mentioned in chats, accounting for 72.6K messages. Before the tournament, he said that he would finish his career after The International 2022, so many viewers actively supported him and were upset when Team Liquid lost in lower bracket final.
The second most mentioned player is Pure, a Russian player from Entity Gaming. His nickname was mentioned more than 46.3K times in chats. The vast majority of these messages were on the channel of the Russian streamer Nix, where users spammed emotes in support of the e-athlete.
The Team Secret captain's nickname, Puppey, was mentioned 31K times in chats. The main reason for this was the fact that Puppey reached the finals of The International for the fourth time in his career and was one step away from winning his second championship title. He won the first one as a Natus Vincere player at The International 2011.
