ESL Pro League Season 15 becomes most watched CS:GO tournament of 2022
The 15th season of one of the largest and most famous CS:GO leagues — ESL Pro League — ended last weekend. FaZe Clan became the champion of the tournament and had a great start of the year, as the team won the second big title in the past two months. Esports Charts tells you about the tournament's results and viewership statistics, as well as compares it to past seasons and other major events in 2022.
ESL Pro League Season 15 Results
The coronavirus recedes, and all top CS:GO tournaments return to the LAN format. ESL Pro League Season 15 finally took place offline (albeit without fans): the decisive matches were held at Merkur Spiel-Arena in Dusseldorf, Germany.
The playoffs were preceded by a long group stage, where half of the 24 participants were eliminated. There were several strong teams which did not make it to the playoffs, including MOUZ, Team Vitality and even G2 Esports, the top 4 team of the world ranking.
FaZe Clan, the future winners of the tournament, was also on the brink of elimination: Finn 'karrigan' Andersen's squad lost its first two games, but still silenced the haters who considered their victory in Katowice a lucky coincidence: the team won all its remaining matches and advanced to the playoffs.

In the decisive stage, FaZe Clan had incredibly tough opponents. First, the team defeated Players (roster of Gambit Esports), the third team of the world ranking Players, then soundly defeated Natus Vincere, in the semi-finals beat FURIA, and left no chance to ENCE in the title match. It seems that the main favorite of European qualifiers for the major is already known.
The most valuable player of the tournament was ropz from FaZe: he had an outstanding tournament and earned his second medal from HLTV.org in EPL tournaments. We should also mention Twistzz, who has become the 4th player from North America to win over $1 million in prize money. And karrigan should be praised as well: many wrote him off years ago, but the 31-year-old Dane continues to prove that he is one of the best captains in the history of the game.
ESL Pro League Season 15 Viewership Statistics
ESL Pro League Season 15 is currently the most watched tournament of 2022 in CS:GO due to its length, and ranks fourth in the entire esports industry, behind only LCK Spring 2022, MPL ID Season 9, and LEC Spring 2022.

EPL S15 matches ran from March to April and were on the air for almost 229 hours. In that time, viewers spent more than 30.4 million hours watching broadcasts of the tournament, and the Average Viewers number of the event reached 132.8K spectators.
The most popular match of the competition is the encounter between FaZe and NAVI in the quarterfinals, which attracted more than 413K Peak Viewers. It should be noted that it is the only match that exceeded 400K Peak Viewers. In particular, the Grand final of the event takes only third place — 354K Peak Viewers.
FaZe became the most watched team of the tournament by a wide margin, and its Average Viewers number was second only to NAVI: matches of these two teams alone attracted more than 200K Average Viewers.

The main languages of CS:GO tournaments were English, Portuguese, and Russian as usual. And this is the order of the most popular EPL S15 channels. ESL's main Twitch channel was the leader by all metrics (203K Peak Viewers and 16.3 million Hours Watched), followed by Brazil's caster Gaules and Maincast in third place.

Most popular ESL Pro League tournaments
NAVI usually draws the most viewers at CS:GO events, but the team left the EPL quite early, dropping out in the quarterfinals. That's the main reason why Season 15 was less successful in terms of core viewership metrics.
We should remind you that the leadership within EPL by Peak Viewers belongs to Season 14, when the final of NAVI vs. Vitality was watched by up to 758K Peak Viewers. The first place by Hours Watched is held by the European division of Season 11: viewers spent more than 33.7 million hours watching the broadcasts.

Most popular CS:GO tournaments in 2022
ESL Pro League Season 15 has expectedly become this year's leader in the discipline by Hours Watched. It beat the second most watched tournament, IEM Katowice 2022, by 1.5%, but we should remember that the Polish event was on air for 2.5 times less time.
EPL S15 is behind not only IEM Katowice 2022, but also BLAST Premier Spring 2022. It should be noted that FiReLEAGUE Latin Power Spring 2022, which Gaules actively covered, made it to the top 5 within the discipline by both HW & PV in early 2022.

NAVI's early elimination prevented ESL Pro League Season 15 from breaking into the series lead by viewership numbers, but the league still drew an extremely large audience: the event was more or less on the same level with the previous two seasons by Average Viewers.
Now all the attention of CS:GO fans will be focused on the PGL Major Antwerp 2022 qualifiers. Next ESL Pro League season kicks off in late summer: the event will take place offline from August 31 to October 2.
