The first Valorant Mobile tournament will take place in China in July 2025

The esports scene may soon see the arrival of an exciting new title. Riot Games recently announced a strategic partnership with smartphone manufacturer OnePlus. Their first major initiative together will be hosting the world’s first, official Valorant Mobile tournament in China later this year.

The news emerged during the official launch of the OnePlus Ace5 Supreme, the company's latest flagship smartphone. The partnership between Riot Games and OnePlus was announced by Jin Yibo, head of TJ Sports — the organization that manages all of Riot Games' esports operations in China, including leagues like WRL, LPL, and VCT China.

During the presentation, the partners announced that the OnePlus Ace5 Supreme will serve as the official smartphone for Valorant Mobile at all major tournaments in China. This kind of partnership is nothing new in the industry. For instance, official Wild Rift tournaments use Nubia RedMagic phones, while the Infinix GT 20 Pro was the official device for the 2024 PUBG Mobile World Cup and Mobile Legends: Bang Bang tournaments.

Details about the first Valorant Mobile tournament are still scarce. According to early reports, Tencent and TJ Esports plan to host the event as soon as July in Qingdao. The tournament is expected to be open to players across China and will take place ahead of the game’s global launch. For now, Valorant Mobile is currently available for pre-registration in China only, with its next closed beta set to take place in June. Riot Games has yet to reveal the global release date for the game, and it is not expected to launch anytime soon.

The original version of Valorant remains one of the most-watched esports titles on livestreaming platforms. In 2024, Riot Games’ team-based shooter trailed only League of Legends in total hours watched. Among mobile games, Mobile Legends: Bang Bang leads the pack in both total viewership and peak concurrent viewers, outperforming even Garena Free Fire and PUBG Mobile.
