The most popular roster of the day was the Russian BetBoom Team, which led both in terms of total Hours Watched (859K) and average number of viewers per match (145.1K). It is worth noting that most of the top 5 teams in both categories were from Eastern Europe, North and South America.

Viewership Comparison of The Lima Major and PGL Arlington Major

Viewership Comparison of The Lima Major and PGL Arlington Major

If you compare The Lima Major 2023 to the previous Major, the championship in Peru gathered almost as many viewers on the first day as the PGL Arlington Major 2022 did, despite the inconvenient broadcast time for viewers from Europe. The slight difference in Hours Watched is due to the fact that the matches at The Lima Major 2023 were a bit longer on air. However, some may be puzzled by the statistics for languages.

The Lima Major 2023 became the first tournament where English only took third place in terms of concurrent viewers number on the first day. Usually, it ranked first or second (sometimes second to Russian), but at the tournament in Peru, English was surpassed by Spanish as well. The main reason for this was the change in the broadcasting studio. Instead of the more familiar PGL or BTS studios, the English coverage for The Lima Major 2023 was provided by the little-known Epulze studio, which had never hosted such large tournaments before.

On the first day of the PGL Arlington Major 2022, English had 145K viewers at its peak, while at The Lima Major 2023, this figure was only 78.2K. However, the story was quite different with the Spanish language. In the first game day of the previous major, its peak online did not exceed 46K, while on the first day of the major in Lima, it surpassed the mark of 82K concurrent viewers.
