Starting next season, a new team will play in the European franchise league LEC (League of Legends). The newcomer to the tournament is Team Heretics, owned by one of the most popular streamers of Spain, David TheGrefg Martinez. Information about this appeared on the social networks of the club.
Earlier, media reported that Misfits would leave LEC and their slot in the league would be sold for $40-50 million. In addition to Team Heretics, the media named other potential candidates for the slot, among them were the French organization Karmine Corp, owned by the French creator Kamet0, as well as KOI, the club owned Twitch record-holder Ibai and FC Barcelona defender Gerard Piqué.
Team Heretics opened a League of Legends division in 2017, but in five years the team hasn't made any serious headway on the European scene. According to the results of LVP SL 2022 Spring, the team took eighth place.
The Misfits have been playing in the LEC (formerly EU LCS) since 2016. In the debut season, the team won the summer split, and subsequently finished in the top 4 several more times. In addition, the roster reached the quarter-finals of the Worlds in 2017. According to the results of LEC Spring 2022, the team took 4th place.
