LCS Spring 2026 records the lowest viewership for North American League of Legends ever

LCS Spring 2026 records the lowest viewership for North American League of Legends ever

May 22, 2026 5 dakika okuma

The LCS 2026 Spring recorded the least-watched Regular Season in the series’ history, despite hopes that a return to the LCS brand would stablise viewership in North America. Not only did local viewership dip, but international attention for the LCS has also fallen.

At the start of the year, things seemed hopeful for the newly-rebranded LCS. The season-opening LCS 2026 Lock-In recorded 185,000 Peak Viewers; while not a historic result for the LCS, it did mark a slight up-tick over the opening for the LTA North. However, now that the LCS 2026 Spring Regular Season is behind us, viewership clearly fell across all metrics compared to the LTA North 2025 results.

In total, the LCS 2026 Spring earned 3.33M Hours Watched across 7 weeks of League of Legends esports, marking a 15% drop in watch time compared to the LTA North 2025 Split 2. Although the LCS brand was hoped to bring viewers back to the circuit and stabilise its results, the North American circuit lost almost a quarter of its viewership this year: throughout the Regular Season for the LCS 2026 Spring average concurrent viewership fell by over 23% to 52,314 Average Viewers.

LCS 2026 Spring Regular Season viewership statitics and dynamics

The most popular match of the LCS 2026 Spring Regular Season was the final week showdown between Cloud9 and Team Liquid, two of the LCS’ strong teams: ultimately, 86,608 Peak Viewers tuned in as Team Liquid faced their second loss of the Regular Season. While not as severe as other negative dynamics faced by the LCS, Peak Viewers also fell by 10%.

Unfortunately for this LCS, this drop in viewership was not only due to declining, local interest, but significantly decreasing international viewership. Portuguese-language viewership, largely coming from Brazil, experienced a decline in watch time of over 75% compared to the LTA North 2025 Split 2. Spanish viewership stayed relatively stable, but still remains a rather minor audience for the LCS, still laying behind Brazillian watch time.

With local and international interest in the circuit decreasing, the LCS 2026 Spring Regular Season was officially the least-watched Regular Season in LCS history. Viewership for the LCS has continued to fall, even with the rebrand unable to bring its opening stage above the LTA North results.

LCS Spring Regular Season watch time and peak concurrent viewership comparison, 2019-2026

While the lowest-watched LCS Regular Season on record, the LCS 2026 Spring did not record the largest drop in viewership the LCS has ever experienced, rather just a continuation of a general downwards trend.

Going further into historical data, the LCS’ most popular period came around 2017, but 2022 marked the beginning of the downwards turn for the Lsome esports disciplines with viewers stuck in lockdown, but the LCS experienced minor viewershCS. The previous couple of years were odd; the COVID-19 pandemic caused record highs in ip drops. However, the floodgates opened in 2022, with viewership drastically falling for the Regular Season, and continuing to fall each year afterward.

On the global stage, the LCS 2026 Spring lagged behind many other of League of Legends top esports circuits. The days of competing with the LEC’s viewership is far behind the LCS, with it now more comparable in viewership size to the LCP, which recently earned 3.16M Hours Watched for its LCP 2026 Split 2 Regular Season.

The CBLOL also stands quite far ahead of the LCS’s viewership, with the Brazilian circuit having earned 6.44M for the CBLOL 2026 Split 1 Regular Season. While viewership had been close between the two circuits in past years, the CBLOL has now clearly overtaken the LCS since the LTA North debacle.

With viewership on a downwards turn for the LCS; the playoffs still lie ahead as a chance to improve its peak concurrent viewership compared to the LTA North. In recent news, North American livestreaming superstar Nicholas “Jynxzi” Stewart recently announced his plans to begin co-streaming LoL esports tournaments, including the finals of the LCS. An injection of Jynxzi’s viewership could very well see the LCS earn its highest peak viewership in years, so keep an eye on the upcoming playoffs stage set to begin on May 22.
