MPL Cambodia Autumn 2023 sets new audience record in league

MPL Cambodia Autumn 2023, a regional league in Mobile Legends: Bang Bang, came to an end on October 8. This autumn, the tournament set a record for the series with the highest number of concurrent viewers. The Grand Final was watched by over 127.4K Peak Viewers, which is 17% higher than the previous record.

MPL Cambodia Autumn 2023 offered viewers many exciting matches, but the biggest surprise was the disappointing performance of the BURN x FLASH team. It had won the previous two seasons, but this time it only managed to secure third place. In the league's Grand Final, CFU Gaming and See You Soon faced off, with SYS securing a hard-fought victory with a score of 4:3. It earned a place in the upcoming M5 World Championship.

The MPL Cambodia Autumn 2023 matches accumulated over 3 million Hours Watched, also making it the best result in the history of the Cambodian league. This achievement was primarily reached thanks to a change in format: during the autumn season, teams played in the Group Stage with best-of-three series instead of best-of-two as before. As a result, the total broadcast time increased, leading to an increase in Hours Watched.

The MPL Cambodia Autumn 2023 broadcasts were primarily conducted in the Khmer language. The PV number for the Khmer broadcast was the highest in the history of the MPL series, reaching 115.3K viewers. This is the second-highest record after the MLBB Southeast Asia Cup 2023, where the Peak Viewers number for the Khmer broadcast was 130.6K people. 

The Regional League of Cambodia emerged relatively recently, in the autumn of 2021, however, conclusions can already be drawn about its viewership dynamics and its position in the professional Mobile Legends scene. Firstly, like in many other regional leagues, viewers are much more active during the autumn seasons, when quotas for the World Championships are determined. If we compare MPL Cambodia Autumn 2023 with the autumn season last year, the AV number increased by 41%, despite significantly longer airtime. At the same time, the PV number increased by 17%.

Cambodia is not the largest region in Mobile Legends, but the local league already gathers more viewers than leagues in Brazil, Singapore, or MENA. These leagues are also growing, but their audience reach is significantly smaller. It is possible that in the future, in terms of viewership, Cambodia could catch up with the league in Malaysia. What are the prerequisites for this? For example, in 2023, MPL Cambodia saw its first foreign players from Indonesia and the Philippines.
