PGL Cluj-Napoca 2026 viewership doubles as Vitality chase another trophy

Feb 19, 2026 4 dakika okuma

PGL Cluj-Napoca 2026 marks the first major Counter-Strike event of the year for PGL, bringing the series back to Cluj-Napoca with a clear surge in audience interest. The tournament’s Group Stage has delivered significant growth across all core viewership metrics, from Peak Viewers to Hours Watched, reinforcing the strength of early-season LAN events in the current CS ecosystem.

On the competitive side, Team Vitality have emerged from the group stage looking like the team to beat, once again positioning themselves as frontrunners for another trophy. Awaiting them in the playoffs is a stacked field — including NAVI, MOUZ, Aurora and The MongolZ — all aiming to halt their momentum and reshape the title race in Romania.

This year’s edition takes place almost on the same dates as the previous Cluj-Napoca event, but the tournament itself looks notably different. The prize pool has been reduced by half to $625,000, yet the competitive lineup appears significantly stronger. Nearly all top teams from the global rankings are in attendance, with Team Spirit standing out as the only major absence.

That concentration of tier-one organizations has proven to be a decisive factor behind the tournament’s audience growth. Star power and consistent playoff-caliber matchups have elevated overall interest, helping the Group Stage post substantially stronger viewership numbers compared to last year’s edition.

If one team defined the viewership momentum of PGL Cluj-Napoca 2026, it was FURIA. After building strong traction throughout last season, the Brazilian side arrived in Romania with a clear audience carryover. The team draws massive support at home, while also attracting significant Russian-speaking viewership thanks to the explosive performances of Danil “molodoy” Golubenko. During the group stage, FURIA were the only team to surpass 300,000 average concurrent viewers across their matches.

Their impact was visible across the tournament’s top fixtures. FURIA featured in three of the five most popular matches of the group stage, including the single biggest one: their clash against the Falcons superteam peaked at over 522,000 live viewers. That figure stood roughly 100,000 viewers higher than the second most popular match of the group phase, underlining just how central FURIA were to the event’s overall audience growth.

Beyond individual team influence, the broader numbers confirm that the growth is structural rather than situational. Every major metric is up year-over-year. Average viewership more than doubled compared to the 2025 edition, while Peak Viewers during the group stage increased by 65.3%. The tournament is not just attracting more casual spikes but sustaining higher concurrent engagement across matchdays.

Audience expansion is visible across nearly all language segments, with Russian-language broadcasts showing the most pronounced surge. Four separate language groups surpassed the 100,000 peak concurrent viewers mark. At the same time, Ukrainian, Turkish, French and Polish broadcasts demonstrated strong activity throughout the group stage. Growth was also recorded across every platform carrying the event, with Kick’s peak viewership tripling compared to last year, driven largely by active Turkish communities.

The playoff stage is set to take place from February 20-22, bringing the tournament to its decisive stretch in front of a live arena audience. With most of the world’s top-ranked teams advancing — and many of them commanding strong followings across different language segments — the conditions are in place for another significant audience spike.

Given the momentum already built during the group stage, PGL Cluj-Napoca 2026 now has a realistic chance to deliver one of the strongest viewership performances among non-Major Counter-Strike events this year. If the bracket produces the expected high-profile clashes, the tournament could set a new benchmark for early-season CS competition in 2026.
