The Play-In stage of the 2024 World Championship attracted a record number of viewers
There’s still a whole month until the finals of the 2024 World Championship, but it’s already shaping up to be bigger than last year’s event in terms of viewership. The Play-In stage of this year’s tournament has set a record for the highest number of viewers, surpassing all previous events in the series.
During the Play-In stage, peak viewership hit around 1.43 million viewers, a 10% increase from last year’s championship, making it the most-watched Play-In stage in Worlds history.

The standout match in the Play-In stage was the series between paiN Gaming and Rainbow7, where it was decided which team would advance to the Swiss Stage. Interestingly, this was the first time that the most popular Play-In match featured no teams from the "big four" franchise leagues (LEC, LCK, LCS, and LPL). A major factor in the spike in viewership was that the Brazilian club made it to the main stage of the World Championship for the first time in its history. A significant number of viewers from South America tuned in.
From October 3 to 13, the Swiss Stage matches will take place as part of the 2024 Worlds, where the 16 best teams will compete to determine which eight will advance to the Knockout Stage. Stay tuned for results and viewership stats on our reporting page!
