Counter-Strike esports so far in 2026 has seen some amazing results and performances, with Team Vitality once again emerging as the side to beat. A look at individual players also shows that certain names have shone brighter than others, and that is what we will be examining in this article.

This Q1 2026 Esports Results report is sponsored by Hellcase, the world's leading CS2 skin platform and a long-standing contributor to competitive esports communities. With the esports landscape constantly shifting, partners like HellCase help keep teams and organizations afloat and strengthen the ecosystem of the world's prime digital competitions.

Esports Charts ranks the five best Counter-Strike 2 players from the first quarter of this year. Readers must note that these rankings are subjective, choosing the highest-quality plays at the top level, and they do not depend on any particular metric; instead, they combine aspects like prize pool and viewership to analyze which professional player has had the biggest impact on the scene overall in Q1 2026.

Who were the best Counter-Strike esports players in Q1 2026?

#5 Sh1ro

Sh1ro remains one of the pillars of Team Spirit's CS2 side (Image via Team Spirit on X)

Dmitriy "Sh1ro" Sokolov takes the fifth spot here on the back of his importance to the run that Team Spirit has enjoyed in early 2026. The side has been a consistent presence at almost all the top-tier events so far, although it has not been able to clinch more finishes at the top of the podium.

Spirit's performances in Q1 2026 include top-eight finishes at the BLAST Bounty Winter 2026 and the ESL Pro League 23 Finals, and a third-place finish at the IEM Kraków 2026. Sh1ro has been central to these successes, even clinching an Exceptionally Valuable Player (EVP) award during the Spirit's podium run in Poland.

If the Russian side is to clinch another Major crown in Cologne to add to its cabinet, the 24-year-old AWPer is going to have to play a massive part. But before that, Sh1ro will look to help his teammates get that winning feeling again at events like Intel Extreme Masters Rio 2026 and the BLAST Rivals Spring 2026.

#4 m0NESY

m0NESY has been one of the bright spots for Team Falcons so far this year  m0NESY has been one of the bright spots for Team Falcons so far this year (Image via BLAST)

Ilya "m0NESY" Osipov has been one of the stars of the CS2 scene and has been touted for big things not only by fans but by his own peers. While his side, Team Falcons, has endured an inconsistent run so far this year, the Russian youngster has been one of its few bright spots.

The 20-year-old was one of the EVPs at the PGL Cluj-Napoca 2026, where Team Falcons exited in the first round of the Playoffs. The side has only one big trophy to show in its short history, and none since m0NESY joined.

Having won the PGL Bucharest 2025 and reaching five grand finals since that triumph in Hungary, Falcons will need to fix the habit of falling at the final hurdle. With the expectations remaining sky high, their young star AWPer will need to maintain his blistering form if his side is to win more often, especially at the upcoming Major.

#3 FlameZ

FlameZ has been a consistent performer for Team Vitality during its dominant run these last two years  FlameZ has been a consistent performer for Team Vitality during its dominant run these last two years (Image via Team Vitality on X)

Team Vitality has continued its record-breaking form in 2-26, and Shahar "FlameZ" Shushan has been a big part of this success. The 22-year-old has already claimed three EVP titles at the BLAST Open Spring 2026, PGL Cluj-Napoca 2026 and IEM Kraków 2026, showing just how impactful his performances have been for his team.

After its win in Cluj-Napoca in February, Team Vitality became one of the few sides to cross $10 million in all-time Counter-Strike prize money  After its win in Cluj-Napoca in February, Team Vitality became one of the few sides to cross $10 million in all-time Counter-Strike prize money (Stats as of April 24, 2026)

The dominant French side has already claimed three titles this year and will be the favorite when we head to Germany for the IEM Cologne Major 2026. One of the reasons is FlameZ, who has been a standout performer on the team, as seen in the fact that he is its second-highest rated player so far in 2026.

Those interested in tracking the performances of sides across esports titles can check out our Teams Dashboard. This subscription gives users access to teams-focused viewership analytics covering all matches and broadcasts, including co-streamers.

Vitality is chasing history, as it looks to become the first side to win the ESL Grand Slam trophy more than once since its inception in 2017 and the first to do it back-to-back. FlameZ will be chasing his own milestone, as a win at the next tournament, IEM Rio 2026, will put him in an elite list of multiple-time ESL Grand Slam winners, so expect him to keep his red-hot form going into Q2 2026.

#2 donk

At just 19, donk is already one of the best CS2 players in the world  At just 19, donk is already one of the best CS2 players in the world (Image via Team Spirit on X)

A clear number two when it comes to the best Counter-Strike esports players in Q1 2026 is Danil "donk" Kryshkovets. The Team Spirit entry fragger has been a colossal figure for his side, picking up two EVP awards along the way (BLAST Open Spring 2026 and IEM Kraków 2026).

In fact, he was integral to the Russian team finishing third at the Polish tournament, which was recognized by him getting named as its second-best player. After a stellar 2025, where it was only behind the legendary exploits of Team Vitality, Team Spirit has struggled to gain more top-two placings this year, despite qualifying for most big events, but it's not for want of trying on donk's part.

The 19-year-old has been one of the best players in the world, with many peers suggesting he could end up with the best player award come the end of the year. Whether the teenager can help turn around the playoff jitters of his team along the way could play a major role in him clinching this coveted title.

#1 ZywOo

ZywOo has been the best player in CS2 recently, with even his peers acknowledging this fact regularly  ZywOo has been the best player in CS2 recently, with even his peers acknowledging this fact regularly (Image via ZywOo on X)

An almost unanimous pick among peers, pundits and by player ratings, Team Vitality's Mathieu "ZywOo" Herbaut has been its heartbeat in another dominant season so far. The AWPer/Rifler has clearly been the best player in the world in Q1 2026, although individual accolades have been less forthcoming, as all teammates have been excellent so far, hence sharing these awards.

Nevertheless, ZywOo remains the player his team turns to during clutch moments, or at times when the going gets tough, and he has more often than not responded in kind. He currently has the highest rating of any CS2 pro this year and was named one of the EVPs at the BLAST Open Spring 2026.

If results continue to go its way, Team Vitality could become the second-richest CS side by earnings by the end of the year  If results continue to go its way, Team Vitality could become the second-richest CS side by earnings by the end of the year (Stats as of April 24, 2026)

With Team Vitality one tournament win away from reinforcing its iconic status, the Frenchman will need to be at his best if they are to reach the promised land. Nevertheless, his form and that of his teammates make the French side the favorite at any competition it participates in, including the ongoing IEM Rio 2026.

The four-time Player of the Year will also aim to go one better, thus preventing the likes of donk from taking his crown, by helping Vitality continue to dominate. At the very least, should that historic Grand Slam achievement happen over the next few events, he will have cemented his status as one of the GOATs of Counter-Strike esports across eras.
