Top Esports Matches in Q2 2024
Just like the rankings for the top teams across the second quarter of 2024, League of Legends and Mobile Legends: Bang Bang had a clean sweep of the leaderboards when it came to matches. All five entries on the most popular games' overall standing were captured by the former, while the Moonton smartphone MOBA dominated the top five for mobile esports between April and June.

When looking at the overall and desktop list of top esports matches by peak concurrent spectatorship, the top entry was the Mid-Season Invitational 2024 Lower Bracket Final between T1 and BiliBili Gaming, which hit 2.8M PV. This is the game that saw an incredible comeback from the Chinese team led by toplaner Bin as they turned an almost-loss into a memorable win and passage into the Grand Final.
Second is the LCK Spring 2024 Grand Final between eternal rivals T1 and Gen.G, which registered a monumental 2.6M PV. This regional league also saw several milestones broken, including becoming the series' most popular competition ever after becoming its first tournament to breach the 2M PV mark.
Completing a sort of cycle within this trifecta of teams, the MSI 2024 Grand Final between BiliBili Gaming and Gen.G rounds off the podium with 2.6M PV. Despite the scoreline reading 3-1, it was a much closer clash as each game was highly intense, with the 47-minute decider finishing as the longest in this entire LoL tournament.
The final two entries involve the same two teams duking it out in different Bracket Stage rounds of the MSI 2024. The first entry is the Upper Bracket Quarterfinals meeting between T1 and G2 Esports, which the Faker-led side edged 3:2. The other game is their Lower Bracket Semifinal encounter that the South Korean side again won, this time with a much more comfortable 3:0 margin.
The reigning LEC Spring 2024 champion deserves a mention for finding a place among matches and teams dominated by Asia. It was also one of the most popular sides by average online viewership during Q2 2024, and despite recent failings against teams from China and Korea, it will hope for better showings at the next global competition.

Moving to the leaderboard of most popular mobile esports matches brings another home truth that fans are all too aware of: MLBB has a stranglehold on this division, with Indonesian viewers playing a major part in this dominance. In first place is the MPL Indonesia Season 13 Grand Final between Fnatic ONIC and EVOS Glory which hit 2.2M PV, helping the event end as one of the more popular ones in the series and become only the second tournament in the MLBB Professional League to pass 100M Hours Watched.
The MPL Indonesia Season 13 Playoffs clash between Geek Fam ID and RRQ Hoshi is second with 1.8M PV. This Play-in best-of-five encounter that constituted the first round of the knockouts saw the latter — undoubtedly the game's most popular side — crash out, hurting the event's chances of beating the series watch time record set the previous season.
The meeting between Geek Fam ID and EVOS Glory during the Playoffs Lower Bracket Final came in third after notching 1.8M PV. It gave the latter another crack at Fnatic ONIC after losing to the eventual champion in the Upper Bracket Final, but the side could not make it count in the summit clash.
RRQ Hoshi and EVOS Glory's battle during Week 8, Day 2 of the Group Stage takes up the fourth position on these rankings. The latter won this series 2:1 as the former suddenly saw itself lose four straight games across Weeks 7 and 8 before arresting that slide in Week 9's first game against Dewa United Esports.
Last comes the Week 9, Day 2 Group Stage encounter between Alter Ego and RRQ Hoshi. It was the last match for the latter in this phase and nothing but a win would help it qualify for the Playoffs after its losing run mentioned above. Luckily for fans, it was able to win this 2:1 and progress, although it lost in the knockouts on the first try.
