Half-a-million viewers watched SEN & Gen.G advance to playoffs at Valorant Masters Toronto 2025
The stage is set in Toronto, Canada; the world’s best Valorant teams have already begun battling it out for a Masters title, and two fan-favourite teams have already advanced to playoffs. The opening matches have been incredible spectacles, and as the tournament progresses towards its intense playoff bracket, let's look back at some of the most electrifying highlights of Day 3 of Masters Toronto 2025.
The third day of the Swiss Stage at VALORANT Masters Toronto 2025 saw the Round 2 High Matches take place, which pit the teams with a 1-0 record against each other. The pairings saw North American fan favourites Sentinels face off against China’s Bilibili Gaming, and an Asian derby in the form of Paper Rex vs Gen.G Esports.
Gen.G Karon avoids the curse by stealing t3xture’s ACE against PRX
Kim “t3xture” Na-ra is the Duellist player for Gen.G and despite his impressive performances internationally and strong mechanics, there’s an unfortunate curse attached to the player. Every time t3xture secures an ace against a team, Gen.G are sure to ultimately lose the map. Fans have been joking that Gen.G themselves are well aware of this curse, and noticed, they actively work to hunt down the final frag when t3xture is close to getting an ace.
In their match against PRX, Gen.G opened up the first map with a 5-0 lead, displaying some Attacker-sided supremacy. T3xture opens up the sixth round with a quick frag in Mid, before leading the push for his team through A Main and taking down almost all of PRX. With the ace basically in his hand, t3xture was just a fraction of a second too slow compared to his team.
The final moments of Gen.G’s first map against PRX received just shy of 500,000 Peak Viewers (PV). This game’s viewership came from diverse sources, with significant audiences watching through Japanese, Korean, English, Spanish, and many other languages.
Sentinels IGL johnqt strikes back strong against Bilibili Gaming
In Bilibili Gaming’s match against Sentinels, the Chinese roster was able to pick up the first map of the match 13-9. After the loss on Icebox, Sentinels came back swinging in the second map, with their in-game leader Amine "johnqt" Ouarid hitting some crucial flicks to halt a BLG push in its tracks.
Sentinels' leader has been known for his clutch plays and highlight moments, and he continues to prove he’s not only the brains behind the team, but sometimes the brawn, too. The magic behind Sentinels’ roster is that each of their players has the potential to pop off and secure a highlight play or clutch, something which keeps fans engaged in their games even when things look dire.
Ultimately, over 400,000 concurrent viewers saw johnqt’s 4K play against BLG live, but the third and final map of the series recorded an even higher peak viewership.
BLG whzy singlehandedly takes the site with his OP against Sentinels
In the final map of Bilibili Gaming’s match against Sentinels, the score was tied 1-1 and the teams went to the final map, Lotus. The Chinese team started on the Attacker side first, and their Duellist Wang “whz” Haozhe showed phenomenal mechanics throughout the half, walking into Sentinels’ sites with his OP and sniping down each of their players.
Whz’s most impressive clip came just towards the end of the half, with the player fearlessly entering the site on Raze; the Chinese player wasted no effort, even taking down johnqt and Marshall "N4RRATE" Massey with a single bullet.
At the end of the first half, almost 480,000 concurrent viewers tuned into the game, but Sentinels’ comeback in the second half would drive viewership above 530,000 PV. After BLG’s dominant Attacker side, their choice of Agents were perhaps poorly suited for defence against Sentinels. In the second half, BLG secured only two rounds against Sentinels, with their star player whz finishing the second-half with only a single frag.
After collecting two victories each over the opening days, Gen.G Esports and Sentinels are the two teams to advance to the playoffs at Masters Toronto 2025 with flawless records. The first three days of the Valorant Masters Toronto 2025 are behind us, and currently Gen.G Esports and Sentinels stand at the top of the groups, having already advanced to playoffs with a flawless 2-0 record each. Viewership has already broken 500,000 concurrent viewers for many matches, with the 1 million viewer mark in Master Toronto’s sight for playoffs.
