Wild Rift Origin Series: Tournaments Results and Viewership Stats

Since the release of Wild Rift in certain regions, Riot has been carrying out series of tournaments with massive rewards. This article discusses Riot’s first-ever official tournament, the Origin Series.

The Origin Series was officially announced by Riot back on the 20th of May 2021. The tournament tests out the best teams from Europe, MENA and CIS. The first tournament was contested on June 1st and since then Riot has been carrying out them in multiple regions.

Today, in this article, we will be analyzing the data we have gathered from the tournaments held between June to July in CIS and MENA. While discussing the data, we will also come across multiple facts regarding the same.

Tournament Viewership analysis for Wild Rift’s Origin Series

First off, let’s take a look at the Origin Series held in July at CIS. The data we have shown in the figure is about the finals, which was fought between Futbolist vs UOL. According to the data, the match could collect 12K Hours Watched and 3K Peak Viewers. Along with, 2K Average Viewers throughout the match with a total of 6H Air Time.

On the other hand, we also have the data for Origin Series of the same, which was held in June. Astonishingly, it collected 14K Hours Watched and 3K Peak Viewers during the entire final match fought between Nova and UOL. Both of the finals had almost the same Average Viewers of around 2K with a 6H Air Time. Note that, both the finals had UOL as the contestant.

Coming to the finals of Origin Series in Europe, the finals could manage to collect 8K Hours Watched and 2K Peak Viewers. The Average Viewers during the same were 1.5K and with 5H of total Air Time.

Lastly, we have the finals of Origin Series in the MENA region, which had 7K Hours Watched with 2K Peak Viewers. The finals also witnessed a 1.7K Average Viewers with 5H of Air Time.

In the end, we can say that the tournaments contested in the CIS had more active viewers in comparison to the rest of the regions.

Comparison of Viewership of Wild Rift’s Origin Series and Mobile Legend’s Mythic League

To begin with, Moonton is carrying out the Mythic League Season 1 PRO in the CIS region, which started on the 22nd of May. Similarly, another Mobile Legends’ Mythic League Season 1 Amateur is also running at the same time. However, there is a huge prize money difference between them.

To date, the Mythic Season 1 PRO and Amateur have collectively 74K and 72K Hours Watched respectively. The PRO tournament has the highest Peak Viewers of 3K during the Unique Devu vs RAJA match with approximately 1.9K Average Viewers with 40H of Air Time. Whereas the Amateur tournament has 959 Average Viewers with 76H of Air Time.

Regarding the comparison between Wild Rift’s Origin Series and Mobile Legends’ Mythic League, we can see the vast difference between the Hours Watched in all the tourneys. But is totally justified as the Air Time duration of the Origin Series is quite less in comparison to the Mythic League.

On top of that, the other parameters are well contested between all the tournaments which include Peak Viewers, Average Viewers etc. By judging the comparison data, it is safe to assume that the Origin Series is up to the level of Mythic League in terms of Hours Watched. Only if the Air Time could have been longer, we could have witnessed the same numbers in Hours Watched.
