For the first time, TikTok was the most popular MDL Indonesia platform during Season 12
The second half of 2025 saw three major Mobile Legends Development League (MDL) seasons conclude across Indonesia, the Philippines, and Latin America. While MDL Indonesia Season 12 maintained its position as the region's premier development tournament, the gap between Indonesia and the Philippines narrowed significantly, according to Esports Charts viewership data.
The MDL series continues to serve as the primary pathway for developing talent in Mobile Legends: Bang Bang's strongest regions. MLBB is the beating heart of mobile gaming esport, with millions of viewers across the globe. The H2 2025 MDL cycle featured established tournaments in Indonesia and the Philippines, while Latin America hosted its inaugural season, marking the game's growing investment in emerging markets.
Leading the pack once again, the MDL Indonesia Season 12 broadcasts accumulated 3.2M Hours Watched (HW) and 86.9K Peak Viewers (PV). While these figures remain the highest among all MDL regions in H2 2025, they represent a continued decline from previous Indonesian seasons: Season 11 drew 4.76M HW with 147K PV. The Indonesian circuit also boasted the highest Media Value of all H2 2025 MDL circuits at over $200,000.

However, while Indonesia might still boast the top figures, the MDL Philippines Season 6 delivered impressive viewership numbers of its own and came closer than ever to matching Indonesia. In total, the MDL PH received 68K PV and 796K Hours Watched, largely accumulated through broadcasts on TikTok Live. With the competition closer than ever for the MDL, keeping an eye on regional audience shifts and interests is increasingly important for industry players.
TikTok Live has been gaining solid ground in the esports broadcasting sector of livestreaming, especially in mobile gaming industries. The platform is growing increasingly popular in MLBB esports, and the H2 2025 MDL seasons continued the migration of viewership from YouTube to TikTok: Season 12 of the MDL Indonesia marked the first time that TikTok received more viewership than YouTube for the series. The platform's short-form video integration and localization strategy in Southeast Asian markets have proven particularly effective for capturing mobile-first audiences.
The inaugural MDL LATAM Season 1 marked an important milestone for Mobile Legends' expansion into Latin America, generating 52K HW and 4.9K PV — while modest compared to its peers, these metrics represent a meaningful starting point for the region. The tournament successfully ran across three weeks of competition, establishing broadcast infrastructure and a competitive foundation to be built upon in future seasons.

Home to the largest viewership of the circuits, the MDL ID offers a look into the top banners in MLBB esports’ second-tier. Perusing the top teams of the MDL Indonesia by average concurrent viewers — exclusive data for our PRO subscribers — the list was topped by legendary, local powerhouses. Most of the franchised organizations in the circuit are Indonesian; however, by qualifying through other events, a Western banner not only competed in the MDL ID but ranked as one of Season 12’s most popular teams.
As the Mobile Legends competitive ecosystem continues to evolve, the development leagues will play an increasingly crucial role in talent development and fan engagement. For Latin America, the successful launch of MDL LATAM Season 1 establishes a foundation for growth, though the region faces a long development curve to reach Southeast Asian viewership levels.
The platform shift toward TikTok represents perhaps the most significant structural change, with implications for how development leagues will be broadcast and monetized in future seasons. As mobile-first platforms continue to dominate Southeast Asian viewership, organizers will need to optimize content formats and engagement strategies for these distribution channels.
