IEM Katowice 2025 hits over 1 million concurrent viewers during record-breaking NAVI vs. Team Spirit match
The ongoing IEM Katowice 2025 showed strong viewership potential throughout the Play-in Stage, and now, the start of the Group Stage has already far eclipsed last year’s iteration of the legendary Counter-Strike event series. The third day of group matches hosted multiple simultaneous games, in total reaching over 1,000,000 concurrent viewers. The most popular match, Team Spirit and NAVI, reached close to 900,000 concurrent viewers.

The epic showdown between the two Eastern European squads saw each team win a map, before concluding with an overtime finish. Ultimately, NAVI sent Team Spirit to the lower bracket and now will face TheMongolZ in the Upper Bracket Final; regardless of the match’s result, both of these teams have qualified for Playoffs.
During the final overtime rounds of the game, viewership reached its peak of 882,113 concurrent viewers, making the game the most popular Group Stage match for a non-Major Counter-Strike event. As two leading figures from Eastern Europe, not only in terms of competitiveness but also popularity, a match between these two is guaranteed to always draw high viewership.
Not only are these teams well-followed and respected by local fans, but the game also received a significant international viewership. NAVI and Team Spirit are known as some of Counter-Strike’s leading teams, who will likely be battling for a strong finish at the next Major event. This game drew viewership from hardcore esports fans, as well as excited regional fans of the teams. Altogether, English-speaking viewership accounted for over a third of the total.
This highly popular game was also held at the same time as FURIA faced off Astralis. The Brazilian team was unfortunately eliminated from the event, however, the sizeable Portuguese-language viewership for FURIA’s game helped the entire event to record over 1,000,000 concurrent viewers in total. The matchups on the third day of groups were optimal for engaging multiple global audiences simultaneously.

Aside from the massive peak, other matches were also highly watched. FaZe Clan’s game against Team Vitality was the next-most popular match; the French team’s newest member, Robin “ropz” Kool, became a Major champion with FaZe in the past, but this time he knocked his former team to the lower bracket of the event.
Team Falcons’ earlier elimination game against G2 Esports was also highly popular, thanks to a similar storyline. Nikola "NiKo" Kovač previously competed under the G2 banner for close to five years, and just recently was acquired by Team Falcons. This showdown between NiKo and his former team, as well as G2’s own popularity, helped this game reach close to 470,000 concurrent viewers.
IEM Katowice 2025 recently made history in the Counter-Strike scene with Team Spirit’s showdown against NAVI. The Eastern European theatre is hosting not only some of the esports title’s most popular squads, but also the most domineering competitive teams. The following matches of the Group Stage at IEM Katowice seem unlikely to reach such a high viewership again, but the Playoffs could reach million-viewer peaks once more. Keep an eye out for the final days of the event, finishing at the end of this week.
