July brought a surge of viewership to the esports scene, with four events surpassing the one million mark in peak live viewers, and two flagship MOBA tournaments each drawing over three million concurrent viewers. Channel data also underscored the rising influence of co-streaming in today’s broadcast landscape. Esports Charts presents the top tournaments of July 2025.
Asian teams — particularly from South Korea and Southeast Asia — dominated the audience charts, with their performances drawing global attention. The month’s most-watched event was the Mid-Season Invitational 2025, the second most prestigious tournament in the League of Legends esports calendar. The grand final between long-time LCK rivals T1 and Gen.G hit a peak of 3.4 million live viewers, as Jeong "Chovy" Ji-hoon’s squad secured a hard-fought 3:2 victory to successfully defend the title they had claimed the year before.
Beyond MSI, two more League of Legends tournaments made the top five, both posting nearly identical peak viewership figures. Third place went to the ongoing LCK 2025 Season, featuring yet another T1 vs. Gen.G clash, this time during the regular season. Fourth was claimed by the Esports World Cup, where Gen.G made another deep run, taking down China's Anyone’s Legend in the final.
Mobile esports also had a strong showing. Second place went to the MLBB Mid Season Cup 2025, held as part of the EWC. The tournament peaked at over 3 million live viewers, not during the grand final like most others, but in the quarterfinals, during a dramatic match featuring Indonesian fan-favorites RRQ Hoshi. Despite their passionate support, RRQ fell short and were eliminated, cutting short the event’s chance to break a series viewership record.
Fifth place went to the PUBG Mobile World Cup 2025. Although the event only wrapped up on August 3, it had already built up significant viewership in July and went on to become the most popular PUBG Mobile esports tournament in four years.
Looking at English-language broadcasts, the primary and often official language for most major esports tournaments, MSI once again came out on top, with roughly 21% of the grand final’s viewers tuning in via English-language streams.
Second place went to IEM Cologne 2025, which concluded in early August and ended up as the most-watched and most consistently viewed event in the tournament’s history. Also making the top five were the Esports World Cup (LoL), the MLBB Mid Season Cup, and one more EWC title: the Valorant final, which drew strong English-speaking viewership as Heretics defeated Fnatic.
Twitch’s top esports channels in July were once again dominated by co-streamers, particularly those covering MSI and IEM Cologne. What stood out, however, was the gap between individual channel audiences and the tournaments’ total viewership. Most co-streams peaked at around 100,000 live viewers, with only Marc "Caedrel" Lamont crossing the 250,000 mark, a figure that still accounts for just a fraction of the much larger event-wide totals.
