Valorant Champions 2021 is the final tournament of the first esports season, which started in Berlin on December 1. The very first match of the world championship gathered a huge audience, showing the best start among all past international events in the discipline. Riot Games originally presented all the participants of the tournament right before the first match. The opening game was between Vision Strikers from South Korea and FULL SENSE from Thailand.
The quarterfinalists of the Berlin Masters tournament confidently won with a 2:0 score, and the match at its peak attracted over 690K concurrent viewers; this is the current tournament record. Valorant Champions 2021 is already in the top 4 in the discipline in terms of Peak Viewers number: only Twitch Rivals VALORANT Showcase and two Masters events are placed higher.

Two more games were played on the first day of Valorant Champions, yet they attracted fewer viewers. The most popular language of broadcasts was expectedly English with 346K people at its peak. The top three also included Japanese (153K Peak Viewers) and Portuguese (83.7K).

The European roster of Fnatic faced American team Cloud9 Blue in the closing match of the game day. The match started quite late in the evening by European time and thus lacked many Valorant fans from Asia. Fnatic won a tough fight (2:1), and the match at its peak gathered 506K concurrent viewers.
Valorant Champions vs Masters events
Valorant Champions debuted more successfully than all other international events in the discipline. The previous record by Peak Viewers on the first day of the tournament belonged to the first Masters event in the series, which was hosted in Reykjavik.

The first game day of Valorant Champions 2021 gathered 14% more viewers at peak than Masters Reykjavík, when Crazy Raccoon played against Version1. More than 605K people watched the match at its peak.
The Berlin Masters was less popular with viewers than the one held in Iceland. Most viewers on the first game day were attracted by the game between the European roster of G2 Esports and the Korean team F4Q: over 480K Peak Viewers watched the broadcast.
