The Valorant Champions Tour 2021: Stage 3 Masters Berlin is in full swing, as the remaining handful of teams battle for a share of the $700,000 prize pool and a spot at the Champions, the highest and concluding competition of the official Valorant tournament circuit by Riot Games.
Despite still being in group stages, the tournament is already showing exceptional viewership results, placing itself as the second most-watched Valorant tournament by all three metrics — PV, AV and HW.
At the time of writing this article, the event has drawn 382.8K Average Viewers, who have contributed over 17M Hours Watched.
At its highest peak, 808.2K concurrent viewers were spectating the G2 Esports vs. Sentinels matchup during Day 3 of the event. This makes it the second-most-popular Valorant match after the grand final of the VCT 2021: Stage 2 Masters Reykjavík, where Sentinels swept Fnatic after pulling off a flawless run through the tournament, attracting over 1M Peak Viewers.
That’s even more than the viewership of the recently concluded ESL Pro League Season 14, which peaked at 758.5K concurrent viewers during the grand final.
The next best-performing match of Masters Berlin — the KRÜ Esports vs. ZETA DIVISION matchup during Day 3 peaked at 546.3K concurrent viewers. More interestingly, the participation of the Japanese ZETA caught the attention of the Japanese audience.
The match accumulated 223K concurrent viewers across Japanese broadcasts, including community casting. For example, streamer stylishnoob4 alone reached 116K Peak Viewers while broadcasting the match, breaking his personal streaming record.
At the same time, this marks a record for Valorant in Japan, as it is more concurrent viewers than CS:GO or Rainbow Six Siege have gathered.
Community streams have a substantial impact on the tournament’s viewership in general, not only in Japan. Some of the most popular streams so far were broadcasted by shroud, Kyedae, fps_shaka and stylishnoob4. In total, they collected more than 4M Hours Watched in just 3 days.
With the playoffs approaching in the following days, the viewership of the VCT 2021: Stage 3 Masters Berlin is likely to further rise as the rivalries intensify. So far it looks like Valorant is living up to the initial expectations, quickly establishing itself as a dominant FPS esport title.
