The VCT 2026: EMEA Stage 1 Group Stage recorded under 100,000 Average Viewers, making it the least-watched Stage 1 in VCT history.
The stage suffered from lower viewership among some of its previous strongest audiences, which coincided with poor results from some fan favourite teams like Karmine Corp.
How many people watched the VCT 2026 EMEA Stage 1?
VCT 2026 EMEA Stage 1 Group Stage reached 8M Hours Watched, marking an almost 30% YoY decline for the Valorant esports event.
The most popular match-up of the 2026 Group Stage was Fnatic against Team Vitality. As Fnatic secured a 2:0 win, the showdown received 180,000 Peak Viewers, another significant drop in viewership (-26.9%) compared to last year.

French-language viewership experienced the steepest drop among top demographics for the VCT EMEA. Last year, the derby between streamer-operated organizations Karmine Corp and Gentle Mates topped the charts as the most popular game. While these teams are still some of EMEA’s most popular, their struggles on the server have coincided with a drop in French-language viewership.

With under 100,000 Average Viewers, the VCT 2026: EMEA hosted the least-watched Stage 1 event ever for the VCT. Granted, this was not the least popular Stage overall, which was the VCT 2024: EMEA League - Stage 2 (96.4K Average Viewers).
Why was viewership so low for the VCT EMEA 2026 Stage 1?
EMEA viewership has been on a gradual decline for years, with former peaks now out of reach as fan-favourite teams draw smaller audiences.
Since 2024, this drop has been partially masked by co-streamers, particularly within French and Spanish communities supporting teams like Gentle Mates, Karmine Corp, and Team Heretics. These co-streams helped sustain overall metrics for the EMEA circuit.
But, as these teams struggle early in the 2026 season, associated viewership has dropped sharply, exposing one of the weakest periods for VCT EMEA in recent years.

Looking ahead to Playoffs and Masters London
For the playoffs of 2026 Stage 1, Fnatic and FUT Esports are the teams to beat. These two advanced directly to the upper bracket semifinals for topping their respective groups.
The podium finishing teams for Stage 1 will qualify directly for Masters London, where EMEA organizations will be dreaming about a home-turf victory. The event will take place from June 6-21 at the Copper Box Arena in London.
