In October The International 2021 was held, and also Worlds 2021 and PGL Major Stockholm 2021 started — these are the three main annual esports tournaments. In the new material, Esports Charts will tell you about the performance and records of the championships, as well as name the other events that have gained the largest number of average and peak viewers.

Disclaimer: rankings are based on the total Hours Watched and Peak Viewers indicators. The calculations did not take into account the statistics of Chinese streaming services that use other methods of counting views.

In October, the best statistics were shown by Worlds 2021, which is still not completely over — the final of the tournament between Edward Gaming and DAMWON KIA Gaming, will be held on November 6. The battle between T1 and DK in the semifinals got the largest PV — 3.54M people. This not only became a record figure of the entire championship, but also helped to get into the top 5 most popular esports events in terms of PV.

The second place went to the main rival of Worlds 2021 — The International 2021. The most popular match of the tournament was the grand final, where Team Spirit defeated PSG.LGD and earned $18.2M. The final match of the competition was watched by 2.74M concurrent viewers, which became the largest PV and made the championship the most productive in the discipline by this indicator.

The third was MPL ID Season 8 in the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang discipline with 2.4M Peak Viewers, which was reached on one of the final matches between ONIC and EVOS.LGN. The tournament also became the most successful in the third quarter of 2021 — according to statistics, it overtook LCK 2021 Summer, PUBG Mobile World Invitational 2021, LEC Summer 2021 and IEM Cologne 2021.

It is followed by the ongoing PGL Major Stockholm — the first major in the last two years with a record for CS:GO prize pool of $2M. Peak Viewers number reached 975K, and the most popular match was NAVI and Ninjas in Pyjamas in the group stage.

PUBG Mobile Pro League Season 4 SEA with 644.3K PV placed last out of the top 5. In terms of this metric, only the Indonesian division was able to get closer to the southeast one — it scored 15% fewer Peak Viewers.

If we talk about the preferences of the audience in different regions, then The International 2021 has become the favorite among the CIS. During the final match between Team Spirit and PSG.LGD, there were 1.2M viewers on the Russian-language broadcasts of the tournament, which is almost twice as much as the previous record, which was set at The International 2019. Back then the grand final was watched by 670K Russian-speaking viewers.

In second place we have PGL Major Stockholm with 329.4K Peak Viewers of Russian-language broadcasts,  it was reached during the matches between NAVI vs. Heroic and Virtus.pro against Team Vitality (majority of viewers watched the Natus Vincere match). Next is another CS:GO tournament — IEM Fall 2021. The match between NAVI and Gambit got the largest number of Russian-speaking concurrent viewers — 115.7K.

During The International 2021, the CIS audience showed little interest in other events. Because of this, the fourth line went to the show match between the streamers Arthas, better known as "Papich", and VooDooSh on Heroes of Might and Magic III: At its peak, 54.7K people watched the game. Escape from Tarkov streamer tournament from the Twitch Rivals series with 36.9K Russian-speaking viewers is in fifth place. One of the event's streamers was Recrent — one of the most popular content creators on Russian-language Twitch.

The preferences of the English-speaking audience turned out to be partially similar to the interests of Russian-speaking viewers. In the first place is also the grand final of The International 2021, which was watched by more than a million English-speaking viewers, and in the third place is the match between NAVI and Ninjas in Pyjamas at PGL Major Stockholm with 426K viewers.

Second place went to the match between T1 and DAMWON KIA Gaming at Worlds 2021. 946.8K viewers watched the English-language broadcasts. The top five also includes another tournament from the Twitch Rivals series on Fall Guys, which was organized by the streamer Ludwig, and FIFA 22 Challenge — the first event from EA on FIFA 22. It was attended by 8 professional football players, teamed up with professional players.

The most popular esports stream of October on Twitch was the Russian-language broadcast of the grand final of The International 2021. At its peak, there were almost 813K spectators. The second and third places were taken by the Korean and English-language Worlds 2021 broadcasts, which covered the match between T1 and DAMWON KIA Gaming — they scored 623.6K and 608.4K peak viewers each.

The fourth and fifth lines went to the English-language stream for The International 2021 and the Brazilian stream for The World's 2021. The peak of viewers on the first broadcast was also recorded during the grand final of the championship, and on the second — in the match between RED Canids Kalunga and PEACE.
