Esports not just unites people all over the world, but gives an opportunity to cooperate for a certain goal. In our case it is the fight against Coronavirus.
Today we’ll talk about the results of Gamers Without Borders. This is the series of charity tournaments organized by Saudi Arabian federation for electronic & intellectual sports.
The event will be held for 7 weeks, and each week the organizers choose the new game for the next week of tournaments. The participants are the pro players all around the world, who united to fight against COVID-19. So the Gamers Without Borders prize pool (10 million dollars) will be sent to the charity funds for Coronavirus relief.
The broadcasts were held not only on Twitch but also on Facebook and YouTube with 6 official streams in different languages.
The first discipline was PUBG Mobile. Gamers Without Borders 2020: EMEA was held in the beginning of May. $32,000 were divided between players and $750,000 were sent to the charity fund. CIS team 1218 took the 1st place on the tournament. Hours Watched concluded 50K and the Viewers Peak on Twitch reached the mark of 15K spectators. Spanish-speaking viewers made the biggest part of it - 5K viewers.
The second tournament Gamers Without Borders 2020: Asia was held soon after the first one. The team of Indian streamer KronTen - GodLike obtained the first place. Peak Viewers - 13K and the Hours Watched result is a little better than on the 1st tournament - 57K.
Compared to other tournaments, the results were not as impressive, but we should consider that these tournaments by Saudi Arabian esports federation were only the first step before the key titles.
Rainbow Six Siege was chosen as a second discipline of the gaming “marathon”. In the first Gamers Without Borders 2020 MENA 4 teams have participated, and The Ultimates became the winners. This time there was no prize pool for the teams and $500,000 were sent to International Medical Corps, KSRelief and Gavi.
The tournament has shown significant results and collected 32K viewers on the peak and 49K Hours Watched.
Gamers Without Borders 2020 NA&BR became the most popular tournament of this Rainbow Six trio. The battle was also between 4 teams, but among them were NiP and FaZe Clan. So thanks to their enormous fanbase, the tournament collected 34K peak viewers and 64K hours watched.
The last event Gamers Without Borders 2020 APAC attracted only 13K peak viewers and 23K hours watched. Most of the viewers were Spanish and French fans.
Dota 2 is the 3rd game in the series and there the statistics is amazing. Gamers Without Borders 2020 brought together 8 invited top teams from Europe and CIS, with fans from all over the world. The prize pool was $1,5M and it was sent to the charity funds selected by the teams.
Hours Watched final mark was 1,8M and the Peak was reached at the quarterfinal match between Nigma and OG and concluded 167K viewers. Moreover, 3 matches with NAVI got to the top, so NAVI become the most popular team by Hours Watched category - 843K. Nigma is the leader by Average Viewers - 103K.
This broadcast was officially held in 6 languages and on different platforms. 66,6% of people were watching defense of the ancients on Twitch and 21% on YouTube. English-speaking viewers concluded the biggest part of the peak - 87K, Russian-speaking viewers are behind them - 62K. Such result was achieved due to the participation of the most important Dota 2 CIS teams - NAVI and Virtus.pro.
The great impact was also made by the invited hosts, who drew public attention not only to the tournament, but to charity in general. AdmiralBulldog, Gorgc, PyrionFlax and Shaneomad hosted their unofficial broadcasts.
Gamers Without Borders 2020 is the most popular Dota 2 tournament in May for now. It even overtook WeSave! Charity Play, which was held in the end of March. The Peak Viewers is bigger than on WeSave by 5% and the Average Viewers is 38% bigger.
