Arena of Valor gathers hundreds of thousands of viewers — should we expect a new record at the upcoming International Championship?
Garena has announced the match schedule for the Arena of Valor International Championship 2021, the world's premier tournament in the mobile MOBA. The discipline attracts many viewers in Asia, and it also entered the top 5 most popular mobile disciplines of 2020. The discipline’s Peak Viewers record has been held for 2.5 years, but looking at the results of regional qualifiers, there is every chance to renew it. Esports Charts discusses the interesting tidbits about AIC 2021, the participating teams, and when the competition starts.
AIC 2021 is the fifth anniversary event in the series, which caused the organizers to double its prize pool – which now reaches $1M. The tournament will feature 14 teams from Thailand, Taipei, Vietnam, Indonesia, Malaysia/Singapore/Philippines, South Korea, and Japan. AIC 2021 will be broadcast in English, Indonesian, Thai, Chinese and Vietnamese.

The teams have already passed the group drawing stage
The group stage will run from November 27 to December 5. The playoff stage with a double-elimination bracket will begin with the quarterfinals (December 9-12), followed by the semi-finals (December 17-18), while the grand final is scheduled for December 19.
In addition to the main tournament, there will also be a 1v1 show event, in which one player from each participating team will perform – with the winner being awarded $10K.
Should we wait for a new record?

Most popular Arena of Valor events by Peak Viewers
Last year, AoV entered the top 5 most played mobile games of the year, and the Arena of Valor International Championship 2020 (ranked third) attracted 568K Peak Viewers. Besides that, the World Cup (550K Peak Viewers) that ended in July also made into the top 5. Considering that the recent Vietnamese league was quite close in terms of the Peak Viewers indicator (405K), we can very well expect a new record this year.
