Arena of Valor International Championship 2021 was held from November 27 to December 19. 14 teams from Thailand, Taiwan, Vietnam, Indonesia, South Korea, Japan, China, and Malaysia/Singapore/Philippines fought at the tournament. The $1M worth prize fund of the tournament also became record-breaking for the discipline.

AoV International Championship 2021 stats

The tournament was broadcast on eight platforms, with YouTube becoming the most popular of them with 76% of Total Hours Watched. Facebook is in the second spot with 20% of the total.

Among Asian countries, Vietnam boasts the highest Arena of Valor fan base (not counting China, where the game is published under a different brand name). So far, Vietnamese viewers generated 64% of the total Hours Watched. It should be noted that the activity of Vietnamese viewers is largely due to the Team Flash, which has repeatedly won major international championships. Following the Vietnamese were the Thai broadcasts with 28%. Taiwanese, Indonesian, English, and Turkish channels have also entered the top.

The final match of the Arena of Valor International Championship 2021 set a new record for the discipline. VGaming's match versus Buriram United Esports attracted 879K Peak Viewers which is the discipline’s best result so far. Previously, the lead was taken by the final of the Arena of Valor World Cup 2019 – the encounter between Vietnam and TPE (764K viewers).

Interestingly, the Vietnamese from VGaming did not lose a single match before the final, but in the decisive match, they could not prevail over Thais from Buriram United Esports. In terms of the fan base, VGaming became the most popular team of the tournament with 240K Average Viewers.

Compared to 2020, the Peak Viewers indicator of 2021 AIC grew by 55%, while the Average Viewers indicator decreased by 16%. Given that the main stage of major events always attracts fewer viewers than the grand finals, these numbers do not mean that the discipline is in trouble. With 879K Peak Viewers, AIC 2021 has become the most popular tournament in the history of the discipline!
