MPL Philippines Season 15 opens with 90% viewership increase over 2024's first split
The first week of the MPL Philippines Season 15 concluded after seven games at the Green Sun Hotel in Makati City. Compared to the same stage of the season opener in 2024, the viewership showed significant growth, led by an explosion in the interest shown by two popular regional languages.
At the end of the first weekend, which witnessed every side play two matches, two familiar names — Team Liquid PH and Aurora Gaming — topped the table. They were the only combatants to win both their games and remain unbeaten, starting the season on a solid note after making significant gains in 2024.

Week 1 of the MPL Philippines Season 15 notched 556,080 Peak Viewers (PV), which was achieved during the Week 1, Day 2 series between reigning world champion ONIC.PH and Aurora Gaming. Having gotten off their campaigns with wins on Day 1, fans were eager to see the two sides duke it out in an early marker of their form, with the latter coming out the winner with a 2:1 scoreline.
The over 500,000 peak concurrent viewers this game reached was also over 90% higher than what was seen during Week 1 of the MPL Philippines Season 13. Interestingly, with other leagues yet to begin, there was much attention on these seven games from Indonesian and Burmese viewers, with these languages seeing substantial increments in their watch times.
This also meant there was a big spike in the number of channels co-casting the tournament between 2023 and 2024. This ensured the matches reached a much larger audience base for the first week of the newest season.

Similarly, this MLBB event posted over 2.8 million Hours Watched (HW) and 183,616 Average Viewers (AV) over 16 hours of airtime. These figures represented increases of 65.2% and 74.12%, respectively, from the MPL Philippines Season 13, with tweaks in the Regular Season and Playoffs formats drawing extra interest from audiences.
Interestingly, the absence of Blacklist International, one of the most successful organizations in Mobile Legends: Bang Bang esports history, was not felt during the first week. As a former world champion and a definite needle mover in terms of attracting viewers, the side's shock exit from MLBB esports came as a shock to the community. Many wondered how this would affect the regional league, but so far, there have been positive signs.
There's a long way to go for the newest season of the Filipino circuit of the MLBB Professional League to end, but the initial signs have been pretty encouraging. There's also the added motivation of the Grand Finalists qualifying for the MLBB Mid Season Cup 2025, so fans are certain to see a lot of exciting action before the summit clash on June 1.
