Statistics for the event were updated as of July 13

The Arena of Valor Premier League 2024 wrapped up in Bangkok on July 7th, solidifying its place as one of the biggest international tournaments for Garena's mobile title. The event peaked with over 713,000 viewers, setting multiple records and establishing itself as one of the most popular events in the series' history.

Sixteen teams from Vietnam, Thailand, Taiwan, and Indonesia competed, showcasing the elite from regional leagues like AOG, GCS, RPL, and ASL. Among the participants were renowned clubs such as Saigon Phantom, Flash Wolves, Talon Esports, and GG Live. The tournament started with a group stage using a Swiss system, narrowing the field to just eight teams for the playoffs. Notably, despite being Vietnam's strongest team and the 2023 Arena of Valor Premier League champions, Saigon Phantom suffered an early exit, managing only one win out of four matches.

The playoffs were fiercely competitive, featuring tightly contested best-of-7 series often decided by a single game's margin. In the grand showdown, Thailand's Buriram United Esports faced off against Taiwan's BanMei Gaming. BanMei Gaming emerged victorious with a convincing 4-1 scoreline, claiming a prize of $200,000. This win marked the largest cash prize in the young team's history, having been formed just last summer and with their current roster finalized as recently as February 2024.

Arena of Valor Premier League 2024 Viewership Statistics

The Arena of Valor Premier League 2024 accumulated 25.4 million Hours Watched, peaking at approximately 713,500 concurrent viewers. This performance secured the tournament the second position in the series' history, following Arena of Valor Premier League 2023. Compared to the previous year, there was a slight decline in numbers: watch time decreased by 10%, and peak online viewership dropped by nearly 27%.

The primary reason for this dip in viewership can be attributed to the early elimination of fan favorites and top-tier teams. For example, Saigon Phantom failed to progress beyond the group stage, while well-known teams like Flash Wolves and Talon Esports, though lasting longer, did not reach the finals. Analyzing the ratings of the tournament's most popular matches, the grand final only ranked third in terms of peak viewership. Despite BanMei Gaming's victory, they ranked fifth in average viewers per match. These observations suggest that the overall decline in viewer statistics for the tournament was mainly due to the composition of the finalist teams.
