BGMS Season 4 ends as one of BGMI's most popular events to continue game's recent resurgence
After almost a month of gruelling action, one of the biggest events on the Battlegrounds Mobile India calendar concluded recently. Led by positive performances from some of the country's top teams, it ended as one of the game's most popular competitions.
The BGMI Masters Series Season 4 was held at the NODWIN Gaming Arena in New Delhi from August 18 to September 14. It brought together India's top sides, including 24 invited names and four teams who made it out of the qualifiers, also called the BGMI Challengers Series. These participants battled for one of the battle royale shooter's top titles and a prize pool of ₹1,43,20,000 ($163,920)

Having started slowly in the Group Stage, K9 Esports picked up steam in the semifinals and continued that momentum to emerge as the champion. The team was dominant across the Grand Final, earning three Winner Winner Chicken Dinners — the most of any side in this phase — to end as the only participant with over 100 points.
This was the K9 Esports' biggest win to date, earning it $67,967 and a place in the game's history books. Popular BGMI sides like Team SouL, Revenant XSpark, GodLike Esports and Orangutan also finished in the top ten, helping attract more audiences at the venue and on livestreaming platforms.
While a few thousand were reported to have attended the matches in person, more heartening were the broadcast numbers that came out. The BGMI Masters Series Season 4 finals, held from September 12 to 14, drew more than 10 million views across Hindi, English, and Gujarati broadcasts on YouTube. JioHotstar, the top livestreaming app in India, registered over 500,000 views during these three days, with 200,000 tuning in on the final day alone.

BGMI Masters Series Season 4 reached 326,945 Peak Viewers (PV), placing it among the game's five most popular events ever. This mark was attained during Round 2 of the Grand Finals on Day 1, when Team SouL clinched its first win in this phase.
The success of the BGMS Season 4 continued Battlegrounds Mobile India's recent livestreaming boom. Three of its five most popular tournaments have come in 2024 and 2025, thanks to the renewed focus on mobile esports in India after the mobile shooter's return from a government ban in 2023.

When looking at only events involving competitive players, the BGMI Masters Series Season 4 jumps up a spot to fourth among the game's top competitions by peak concurrent viewership. Interestingly, the BGMI Masters Series Season 3 hit 318,710 PV, meaning the last two editions in this series have been highly successful.
With a new format that added four sides and saw the participants play more games, the BGMS Season 4 clocked in 9.5 million Hours Watched (HW). This put it among the three most-watched events in the game, with only the top two crossing the 10M HW mark.

More channels covering this competition and a longer format also meant that it finished among the most consistently watched BGMI tournaments. The 110,524 Average Viewers (AV) it put up made it just the third event in the game to break the 100,000 AV barrier.
One major point of difference between the two latest iterations that showcased the renewed growth of BGMI was the number of channels covering them. Last year, just 10 channels livestreamed the action as the game was still taking tentative steps after its return from the ban. That number shot up to 84 this year, with YouTube contributing a majority of these channels.
With more and more event organizers shedding their reservations post the game's issues with the Indian government, the number of BGMI events being conducted is gradually increasing. This is providing a lot more teams with the chance to prove their potential and rub shoulders with the best that the game has to offer.
As a result, the quality of the games is steadily improving, showing why Indian players were considered some of the best during the height of PUBG Mobile's fame. That game might have been replaced by a localised version — BGMI — but with teams from the country slowly regaining their confidence and even gaining entry into global PUBG Mobile competitions, it won't be surprising if the audience numbers continue growing as these sides perform better.
